86 <br /> <br />RECESSED MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />JUNE 16, 1988 <br /> <br /> Ohairman Don Eokert reoonvened the meeting from June 14, 1988, <br />with ail members present. He stated that two items are on the <br />agenda, one being appointment of County Judge and the second being to <br />continue discussion on the request from County Social Services for <br />funds for a staffing analysis. <br /> <br /> Chairman Eckert stated that two candidates were chosen by the <br />voters of Cass County to run in the general election for the <br />position of County Court Judge, those being Georgia Pope Dawson <br />receiving the highest number of votes and Charles Chinquist receiving <br />the second highest number of votes. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seoonded that the Cass County <br />Commission name Georgia Pope Dawson as County Court Judge to fiIi the <br />vacancy of Cynthia Rothe. On roll oaii vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br /> Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to set the salary for <br />Georgia Pope Dawson as County Court Judge at 85~ of the District <br />Court Judges base salary. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br /> Florenz Bjornson, Chairman of the Cass County Social Services <br />8card, was present at the request of the County Commission to <br />continue discussion about funding for a staffing analysis for the <br />County Social Services Department. Chairman Eokert stated that the <br />question on Tuesday was how much input the Oounty would have in <br />selecting a firm to do the study, and whether the County Sheriff's <br />Department could be included in the study. Mrs. Stanton stated that <br />the Sheriff's Department staffing analysis would require someone well <br />acquainted with law enforcement, but Mr. Larson suggested leaving the <br />option open to include them if possible. Mrs. Stanton suggested <br />forming a committee and including Richard Offutt, who works <br />with personnel. Mrs. Bjornson stated that Adeline Hartl and George <br />Griffeth will be representing the Social Services Board along with <br />herself. <br /> <br /> Mr. Larson moved and Mr. $ondrall seconded to authorize the <br />Social Services 8card to spend up to $4,500 for a staffing analysis, <br />and that a committee be formed consisting of three from the Social <br />Services Board and Chairman Eckert to appoint two people to the <br />committee. Mrs. Stanton amended the motion to include two members <br />from the County Commission and Richard Offutt on the committee. At <br />the call of the roll on the amended motion, the motion carried <br />unanimously. At the call of the roll on the original motion to <br />authorize up to $4,500 on the staffing analysis, the motion carried <br />unanimously. Chairman Eokert appointed himself and Commissioner <br />Wieland from the Oounty Commission. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Stanton stated that it appears that two <br />short of funds in the 1988 budget.
