67 <br /> <br /> Sherlff Don Rudnlok was present and reported that he wlll be <br />holding meetings with area cities regarding the detox area in the <br />County Jail. He stated that the Jail Physician is questioning <br />whether the detox area is adequately staffed. <br /> <br /> Sheriff Rudnick reported that extra duty events produced $15,000 <br />in income and $11,000 in expenses. He suggested continuing the rates <br />as in the past. Regarding County Commission approval on special <br />events, Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to give blanket <br />approval for the Sheriff to provide services which are reimbursed at <br />the established rate through December 51, 1988. Mr. Wieland asked <br />that the Chairman of the County Commission or one other Commissioner, <br />if the Chairman cannot be reached, be notified in advance of each <br />event. The motion carried on roll call vote with three members <br />present voting "Aye", Mrs. Stanton opposing. <br /> <br /> Administrative Assistant Diana Muraok reported that she is still <br />gathering information from Department Heads on records management. <br /> <br /> Chairman Eckert declared a recess and then <br />Cass County Commission meeting after a meeting of <br />Building Authority. <br /> <br /> reconvened the <br />the Cass County <br /> <br /> Upon the request of Alvin Johnson from County Social Services, <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Social Services be <br />authorized to hire an employee as Eligibility Technician on an <br />emergency basis for up to 60 days in Pay Grade 17, until the proper <br />channels can be followed for permanent hiring, to replace an employee <br />who transferred to the main switchboard. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Upon the recommendation of the County Social Services Board, <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve hiring for a new <br />position in the reception area on a 90-day basis in Pay Grade 11. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Social Services <br />Director Tom Jensen be authorized to pay Donna Lays for extended <br />employment up to 80 hours at the rate of $11.00 per hour rather than <br />her current rate of pay, as approved by the Commission on Hay 3, <br />1988. Diana Murack reported that Donna Lays current rate of pay was <br />$10.21 per hour according to County Personnel records. At the call <br />for the question and upon roi1 call vote, the motion carried with <br />three members present voting "Aye", Mrs. Stanton opposing. <br /> <br /> The Commission received copies of a letter from Kermit Edward <br />Bye to Presiding Judge of the East Central Judicial District, Norman <br />Baokes, regarding Cass County Court Judge Donald Cooke. The letter <br />stated that Judge Cooke requests to be placed on sick leave status <br />from the present time until his retirement, which he previously <br />announced would occur on June 30, 1988. All Commissioners present <br />were in agreement that the Chairman write a letter to Kermit Bye <br />asking that Judge Cooke sign the necessary retirement documents <br />through the County Personnel Office, and the Commission would then be <br />agreeable on his request to be placed on sick leave until June 30, <br />1988. <br /> <br /> <br />
