There are two change <br />orders in this category required on the chemical storage building. I'm <br />seeking Commission approval on both. The changes are required to meet <br />building code requirements of this type of building. <br /> <br />The original mechanical and electrical designs didn't take into account the <br />building code requirements to meet an H-3 occupancy rating. The <br />omission in the original design came up during the codes review by West <br />Fargo building permit otlicials. ['m satisfied that the architect has <br />researched the matter to reach his conclusion that we don't have any choice <br />but to make the electrical and mechanical design changes. <br /> <br />The changes involve more expensive mechanical and electrical fixtures and <br />added ventilation requirements. The need for the change was discovered <br />before any of the original fixtures were installed so there is no rework <br />involved and presumably the bids would have reHected this cost if it had <br />been included in the original construction contracts. <br /> <br />Between the architect and mechanical/electrical engineering firms, they've <br />agreed to reimburse the County 15% of the change order amount on the <br />assumption that prices on a negotiated change order may not be as <br />competitive as if the work had been included in the original bids. <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION: Approve Changes E-2 and M-I on the Vector <br />Building contract in the amounts of $14,747 and $15,062 respectively. <br /> <br />J \Admm-Eng\Commis"OII Corrsp\2005 Comnllssion Corrcspondencc\COllsent Mcmo Spring Lnad Rest <br />022505 doc <br />
