The 2003 <br />Adjusted Budget is $43,367,703. The mill levy would remain virtually unchanged <br />for 2004, going from 65.05 to 65.00 for General and Special Revenue Funds and <br />from 21.10 to 21.35 for Agency Funds. <br /> <br />Some of the high dollar items that have contributed to the $6.3 million dollar <br />increase in the budget are: <br /> <br />Salary and Benefits Increases <br />New Positions <br />Homeland Security <br />Planning funds for Courthouse addn <br />Planning funds for Jail addn <br />2004 Elections <br />Vector/Weed Building <br /> <br />$1,476,000 <br />664,320 <br />1,600,000 <br />750,000 <br />300,000 <br />568,500 <br />900,000 <br /> <br />Some of these items will be funded by sources other than property tax; the Homeland <br />Security funds will be funded by State and Federal grants, planning funds for the <br />Courthouse and Jail additions will come from reserves in building funds, the <br />equipment included in the 2004 Election costs will be funded by a Federal grant, and <br />the Vector/Weed building will be offset by the dollars borrowed to build the <br />building. <br /> <br />We will need to set some dates in September for the public heating on the 2004 <br />Preliminary Budget, further review of budgets by the County Commission and <br />Department Heads, and for final approval of the budget. <br /> <br /> Box 2806 <br />211 Ninth Street South <br /> <br />Sincerely, <br /> <br />County Auditor <br /> <br />Fargo, North Dakota 58103 <br /> <br />FAX 701.241.5728 <br /> <br /> <br />
