<br />Commission Minutes--August 18, 2005 2965 <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to increase the overtime <br />budget by $30,000 for the purpose of enhanced security; and to remove <br />the B32 screening position because of the added overtime. On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried with all members present voting "Aye" and Mr. <br />Bennett being absent. <br /> <br />Mr. Ellingsberg said the increase for the detention center is $1,168 for new chairs. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the 2006 <br />preliminary budgets for the jail and detention center, as amended today. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried with all members present voting <br />"Aye" and Mr. Bennett being absent. <br /> <br />7. JAIL MAINTENANCE <br />Mr. Wagner brought up the issue of maintenance, as discussed with Mr. Ellingsberg at the <br />last Sheriff's Department rotational meeting. With the lateness of the hour, Mr. Vanyo <br />suggested not getting into a lengthy discussion today; however, he asked about hiring a jail <br />consultant, such as Jim Rowenhorst, to evaluate the jail operation. Mr. Vanyo said he is <br />aware that Mr. Ellingsberg requested one month's time to address this with his staff; and Mr. <br />Ellingsberg said he would welcome an outside consultant also to review matters at the jail, <br />such as graffiti and cleaning out duct work. Mr. Wagner asked if there are dollars available <br />to pay a consultant, like Mr. Rowenhorst, and Mr. Montplaisir said money from the <br />contingency fund could be used. <br /> <br />\. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said she will contact Mr. Rowenhorst to get an estimate of his consulting fees. <br />She included a new maintenance employee in the buildings and grounds budget that, if <br />approved, she would request the position be assigned to the jail operations budget for <br />supervision by jail administration. <br /> <br />8.
