Confirm policy on admittance of news media to disaster area with local officials <br /> <br />Recovery: <br /> <br />· Assist with retum of special needs groups, if required <br />· Return borrowed equipment and acknowledge assistance <br />· Assist in the compiling of final damage assessment reports (department costs for disaster) <br /> <br />Reference Materials: Cass County Sheriff's Department Operations Manual, Cass County <br />Emergency Operations Plan and Appendices, Cass County Personnel Manual <br /> <br />Secondary Functions of the Public Safety Functional Coordinator: <br /> <br />The functional coordinator will provide direction to coordinate the actions of fire departments, <br />search and rescue units and hazardous materials response teams. Through unified command <br />under the Incident Command System (ICS) responders will ensure the immediate safety of all <br />citizens, protect public and private property, conduct hazardous material (haz-mat) assessment <br />and provide protection for essential industries, supplies and facilities for any type of disaster <br /> <br />Coordinate with Fire Departments to ensure: <br /> <br />Preparedness: · Review Mutual Aid agreements <br /> · Check readiness of all equipment (equipment checks and maintenance) <br /> · Accomplish inspections of shelter/emergency lodging facilities for safety <br /> · Review fire SOPs or Suggested Operating Guidelines SOGs <br /> · Develop plans for utilizing volunteers <br /> · Coordinate procedures with EMS and Public Health functional coordinator in the event of <br /> a mass casualty incident <br /> · Review and analyze fire operations and update plan with any changes in procedures <br /> · Review and update emergency staff assignments <br /> · Maintain back-up generators for radio system <br /> <br />Response: <br /> <br />· Establish on-site command post and communication <br />· Advise field units of hazardous conditions <br />· Coordinate personnel accountability for Fire/EMS personnel <br />· Alert personnel to be on standby status <br />· Request mutual aid and other resources as necessary <br />· Provide damage reports to EOC <br />· Prepare for possible shortage of water, electricity, chemicals and fuel <br /> <br />6/27/03 30 <br /> <br /> <br />
