PROGRAM GOAL, OBJECTIVE(S) & ACTIVITIES (page 1 of 2) Youthworks, in collaboration with the Juvenile Court and local schools, will provide diversion services for 170 youth including (1) truants, (2) youth suspended and expelled from school and (3) "deep- end" unruly youth" and their families. The staff will collaboratively develop diversion plans with the youth, parents, schools and court focused on keeping youth in school, at home, and out of the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. . In 2004, Youthworks served 228 diverted youth. 1. In 2005-06 Youthworks will provide intensive casework, based on a collaboratively developed plan, for 100 deep-end unruly youth who are at risk of being removed from their home with: ~ (85%) of the youth remaining in the custody of their parents. ~ (65%) having no further involvement in the juvenile justice system. ~ (60%) of the youth having no placement interventions (attendant care, psyche placement, emergency foster or group placement). 2. In 2004-05 Youthworks' will provide 70 students suspended from school with supervision, homework assistance, counseling and community service with: ~ 100% completing a school approved plan regarding the conditions (homework, counseling, letters of apology, community service) of their return to school ~ 70% having no further suspensions during the school year Note: In 2005-06 both the West Fargo and Fargo School Districts have agreed to provide, for the first time, local funding ($40,007 to divert suspended and expelled youth directly to Youthworks. An additional $5000 is being made available from the Dept. of Public instruction. The Juvenile Court in Unit 2 will add an additional $50,000 to the project with $15,000 designated for areas outside of Fargo (Jamestown, Wahpeton, and Valley City). These funds were provided by the Legislature and contracted to Youthworks by the Court. The funds for the outlying area are not included in the Title V budget-the $35,000 will be added to the Title V award.
