Commission Minutes--August 12, 2005 2948

12. EXTENSION SERVICES
Brad Cogdill, Extension Agent, was present. He reviewed changes in the budget compared
with last year. The travel line item will increase due to mileage rate and per diem increases.
Also, $11,090 is budgeted for eight desk chairs and furnishings for the large meeting room
in the basement of the Annex. The overall budget increased about $30,500 from last year.
MOTION, passed
Mr. Pawluk moved and Mrs. Sorum to approve the 2006 preliminary
budget for Extension Services in the amount of $367,291. On roll call
vote, the motion carried unanimously.

13. COUNTY COMMISSION, Video taping of meetings discussed
Commissioners discussed video taping commission and other board meetings at the
Courthouse and Highway Department, which would be shown on the public access
television channel. This item was discussed at the August 1 st commission meeting and a
motion failed to approve funding the project. Mr. Montplaisir said if the commission wishes
to proceed, funding would need to be included in the budget. Mr. Wagner believes this
would allow citizens more access to county government. Mr. Pawluk welcomes public
participation, but does not see much public interest at regularly scheduled commission
meetings.

14. RURAL AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION
Daryl Lahren, Mike Drees, Dick Sinner and Ken Habiger were present from rural area
ambulance services. Their budget request of $145,000 is the same as last year. Mr.
Lahren said with upgrades to digital radio systems, each group will contribute 26% of the
total cost to upgrade their own equipment. He said the association believes they will be
able to cover the expenses, but if it creates a hardship, they may have to ask for an
increase in their 2007 budget. Mr. Lahren said the main problem facing ambulance services
is lack of new volunteers.
MOTION, passed
Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to approve the 2006
preliminary budget for the Cass County Rural Ambulance Association in
the amount of $145,000. On roll call vote, the motion carried
unanimously.

15. ADJOURNMENT
MOTION, passed
On motion by Mr. Pawluk, seconded by Mr. Bennett, and all in favor, the
meeting was adjourned at 11 :50 AM.

ATTEST:

APPROVED:

Michael Montplaisir - Auditor
Cass County, North Dakota

Darrell Vanyo, Chairman
Cass County Board of Commissioners
