Commissioner Darrell Vatryo

Page 2

August 3, 2005

2. We created an administrative office out of the Clerk's space. A door, now
opens into another doorway, again creating an obvious hazard. Simply
reversing the door would address the problem;

3. We cannot finish the administrative offices, setting up a final cubicle (which
has already been purchased) until certain carpentry work is done (removal of a
counter). The components of the cubicle are currently stored in the Court's
library creating congestion in that area;

4. Jury chairs were ordered for one of our courtrooms in anticipation of the
award. The existing chairs were removed because they were totally
unworkable. When the award didn't come through, the order was cancelled.
The need for the chairs remains critical;

5. The third floor library is in desperate need of painting. Paint is actually falling
off the wall into the heaters.

We are ever mindful that this is the people's courthouse, not the judges' courthouse.
Many of the above concerns are in public or semi-public areas. We want to deliver judicial
services the best we can with the resources available. I know you support this goal.

If the Commission would like additional information from the Court on any of these
issues, I would welcome the opportunity to appear personally and address them. Of course,
we would encourage any interested Commissioners to view first hand any of these areas of
immediate concern.

Sincerely,

, 1\. _ . _

e rg a;~
e id Judge
East Central Judicial District

GD:kre
