<br />Weed Control Progress Report January 7, 2019 <br /> <br />Period from Dec. 10, 2018 to Jan 7, 2019 submitted by Stan Wolf <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />Election of Officers: The chair and vice chair officers are elected for a one-year <br />term; election of officers is required at the start of the year. <br /> <br />Action: Hold election of officers. <br /> <br />Palmer amaranth display: The North Dakota Weed Control Association is <br />designing and purchasing a Palmer amaranth informative display Individual <br />counties will be able to purchase a display for their own use. Cost of the display <br />comes to $150.00. <br /> <br />Proposed motion: Move to purchase a Palmer amaranth display. <br /> <br /> <br />Monthly Report <br /> <br />Barnes County Weed Board meeting: Attended the Barnes County Weed <br />Control board meeting on December 11 at Valley City. The Barnes County <br />Extension agent provided information on Palmer amaranth, its growth <br />characteristics and control options. The board is considering adding Palmer <br />amaranth on their county noxious weed list and developing a response program <br />if Palmer amaranth is identified in the county. <br /> <br />Research Partners Meeting: Attended the USDA-ARS Research Partners <br />meeting on December 18 as a representative for the North Dakota Weed Control <br />Association. Attendees were various North Dakota commodity groups supporting <br />research at the USDA-ARS station. I brought up the issue of Palmer amaranth <br />now being identified in the state and needing an early detection and rapid <br />response coordinated with the ND Dept of Ag, NDSU Extension, county <br />extension offices and weed boards.
