The Byrne Grant provides funding for our joint task force and included funds for leasing two vehicles. Under the lease, the grant will pick up 72% of the lease as well as 72% of the mainEenance of the vehicles. There is sufficient funds in our 2003 budget to provide our match of 28%. The lease is through a government leasing program offered by Gateway Chevrolet and is for a period of five years. We are very confident that grant funding will be available during the term of the lease to continue providing the 72~ match. Both of these vehicles are plain clothes vehicles and include: 2003 Chev Astro AWD Van @ 2003 Chev 1500 Ext Cab 4WD @ $394.74/Mo $380.31/Mo As a result of this lease, our office is requesting that the commission approve the purchase of one additional Dodge Ram Pickup for our patrol division. This is off state bid price and funds are available in the 2003 budget for this purchase with the leasing of the above two vehicles. This would allow the replacement of a 2000 Ford Crown Vic Patrol Car with 80,672 miles this year rather than in the 2004 budget year. Sample Motion: "Authorize the Sheriff's Office to enter into a lease agreement for two vehicles for narcotic use and authorize the chair to sign the Purchase Order for the Sheriff to acquire one pickup for patrol use."
