<br />Commission Minutes-January 21, 2003 2551 <br /> <br />17. JAIUSHERIFF'S RESIDENCE, Citizen comments <br />_ Jens Tennefos, Fargo, said he believes there are some unanswered questions about the <br />county's future building plans in terms of a replacement facility on the site of the old jail and <br />sheriffs residence. He does not think the public has a clear understanding of what is being <br />planned f or, in terms 0 f expansion of county office space, and encouraged the board to <br />keep the public informed. He can understand that the jail may need to be demolished but <br />would like to see the sheriffs residence saved. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner said a meeting is scheduled for 11 :30 AM tomorrow, January 22nd, between <br />members of the county commission and representatives of the State Historical Society of <br />North Dakota, to keep them informed of the county's plans. The public has been informed <br />of the meeting also, through the local media. Mr. Montplaisir said the county publishes <br />commission agendas before each meeting, even though State law does not require it. <br /> <br />18. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />172,309 through No. 172,925. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />19. MEETING UPDATES, Committee reports <br />Commissioners and staff reported on meetings they have attended in the past two weeks, <br />as well as upcoming meetings. <br /> <br />,.... <br /> <br />20. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />- resignation letter of Claude Schmidt from the Cass County Vector Control Board; <br />- North Dakota Recorders Information Network (NDRIN) notice of newly elected chair, vice <br />chair and secretary; <br />- notice of grant proposal for early childhood parenting education curriculum submitted to <br />Fargo/Moorhead Area Foundation by Shauna Norby, Extension Agent/Parenting <br />Resources Coordinator; <br />- notice of East Central Commissioners meeting at 10:00 AM on January 27, hosted by <br />Stutsman County at the James River Senior Citizens Center, 502 10ttl Avenue SE in <br />Jamestown, ND. <br /> <br />21.
