<br />Commission Minutes--January 6,2003 2547 <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said Cass County Government's participation in safety and risk management <br />has helped to reduce worker's compensation claims, with 2002 being the most successful <br />year in the last five. There was not a single day of "time loss" due to a workplace injury and <br />the total number of claims for medical care was 13 in 2002. Medical costs for the entire <br />year totaled only $4,643. She credited department heads who participated in this program. <br /> <br />Commissioners reported on meetings they have attended in the past two weeks, as well as <br />upcoming meetings. <br /> <br />Mr. Bennett said he has met a number of county employees since he took office in early <br />December, and everyone seems to be supportive of new commissioners. <br /> <br />Mr. Vanyo said the county has a lot to be proud of in terms of the automation, and he is <br />grateful for the use of a laptop computer for commission work. He also looks forward to his <br />committee service and representing the county commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Montplaisir attended a legislative update meeting last Friday with the North Dakota <br />Association 0 f Counties and said t he association would like to hear from county 0 fficials <br />ahead of time when they are planning to attend legislative hearings to testify on a bill. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner welcomed newly elected Commissioners Vern Bennett and Darrell Vanyo, since <br />this is their first official meeting since taking office. <br /> <br />25. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />resignation letter of Dean McBride from the Cass County Vector Control Board; <br />2002 annual report of the Skills Development Project from Janie Hulett, Director; <br />petitions and letter from Jim Antonovich, representing property owners of Chrisan <br />Estates, requesting the county commission to force the clean-up of property owned <br />by Frank Charon, which was heavily damaged by fire in November 2000; <br />letter from former Commission Chairman, Alon Wieland, and letter from State <br />Historical Society regarding the former Cass County jail and sheriff's residence; <br />notice from Cable One of intent to simplify their Fargo ownership system. <br /> <br />26.
