Flood Sales Tax Committee—May 7, 2018 5 Mr. Preister said Cass County is the primary focus of the study and has the largest populated area. Multiple attempts have been made to pursue funds from the Minnesota Legislature and opportunities will continue to be sought. <br />Mr. Steen said if Cass County provides the full requested amount of funding at this time the urgency for other entities to provide funding may disappear. <br />MOTION, passed Mr. Steen moved and Mr. Wilson seconded to approve the Red River Basin Commission Long Term Flood Solutions Update <br />Project up to $125,000. Discussion: Mr. Benson asked if the full funding amount is not secured at this time if additional funds can be sought from this committee in the future. Mr. Steen said additional funds can be sought in the future and asked if the proposed level of funding will stop the project from getting <br />started. Mr. Preister said it will not and the RRBC is thankful and appreciative of any funding received. Mrs. Scherling said the contributions of Cass County can be used as leverage to secure additional funding from other sources. <br />Mr. Steen asked if Cass County will still see significant benefits from the study if the diversion project moves forward. Mr. Benson said small communities not protected by the diversion will benefit. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 7.
