GOVERNMENT TO: MEMO County Commissioners Commissioners-elect Board of Coilnt~ FROM: Commi ioners DATE: John Me~r I~t. go~ Nol~ Daiwa SUBJECT: Chairman Alon Wieland November 8, 2002 DECEMBER MEETING SCHEDULE Because of a conflict in State law, we will have seven commissioners in December again. In following the same procedure as we did in 2000, it would seem prudent to not hold "regular" Commission meetings in the month of December in order to limit possible future consequences due to the wrong commissioners voting on an issue. State law allows us to conduct business with five commissioners. (See attached copy of the Commission Minutes from November 2000) For the flint Monday in December, when the new commission terms begin, a District Judge will administer the oath of office at 3:30 PM in the Commission Room. Everyone is welcome to attend and meet the new commissioners, Veto Bennett and Darrell Vanyo. Please note that a Social Service Board meeting is scheduled for 2:30 PM on December 2nd, according to Kathy Hogan. For the second meeting in December, commissioners and county department heads gather in the Commission Room to share holiday treats, and I would suggest doing that from 3:00 - 4:00 PM on December 16th. An informal planning meeting for the new year could be held at 4:00 for the 2003 board of commissioners to discuss the chair and vice chair positions, portfolio assignments and committee work.
