RECEIVED NOV 12 2OO2 CASS C0~N1¥ COMMISSION Novemberll, 2002 Scott Wagner, Portfolio Commission Cass County Commission Cass County Courthouse Fargo, ND 58103 RE: Application for Plarming Grant Funds Commissioner Wagner: Greg McDonald has been negotiating with the North Dakota Division of Emergency Management for planning grant funds to assist with the transition to a new Local Emergency Operations Plan. Our current plan is a number of years old and does not meet all the needs of our county and our political subdivisions. The new format was developed by the North Dakota Division of Emergeany Management and will be tailored to fit the needs of our jurisdietiens. This grant is a joint venture with the City of Fargn and h~ been discussed with and agreed to by their City Coordinator Pat Zavoral. The planning grant will enable Cass County in cooperation with the City of Fargo to contract fur services to assist with this project. The total grant being sought is $6,000.00. The State of North Dakota will provide $4,800.00 and the 20% balance will be met by in-kind contributions by the City of Fargo and Cass County. Any local cash contributions will be covered by existing appropriations or Local Emergency Planning Committee Emds. Our Office would request that the Commission authorize the application for and receipt of grant funds for updating our Local Emergency Operations Plan, the City of Fargo's Emergency Operations Plan and other local political subdivision plans. Sample Motion: Move to authorize Greg McDonald, Cass County Emergency Manager, to apply for and receive plamfing grant funds from the Nor[h Dakota Division of Emergency Management and to authorize the Chairman to sign the application and/or award for said funds.
