This department is responsible for the 4-H Youth Development
Program carried out by the NDSU Extension Service. A similar re-assignment was
approved and completed in 2002-2003.

Duane Hauck, Director of the NDSU Extension Service, requests that this
appointment be approved on a continuing basis with the condition that the Cass County
Commission, the NDSU Extension Service Director (or his/her designee), and/or Brad
Cogdill can request that the appointment can be reviewed at any time. A full-time
Extension Agent in training position will be placed in Cass County to accommodate
staffing needs under this work arrangement. This position will carry agriculture
programming responsibilities and will also work with other Cass County Extension staff
to deliver the county extension program. No adjustments to Cass County's contribution to
the extension budget would be made as a result of this arrangement. The office
chair/department head duties would not change as a result of this change in duties.

Like the previous occasion, I am interested in accepting this appointment since it
provides me the opportunity to apply my knowledge and experience in a leadership role
within the NDSU Extension Service. Cass County has the largest 4-H youth development
program in the state making this appointment an opportunity to positively influence the
North Dakota 4-H Youth Development program including how it is carried out here in
Cass County. This arrangement will also allow me to continue to be involved in "grass-
roots" programming through my Cass County job duties while also offering me the
opportunity to provide leadership for a state-wide extension program.

Adequate work space is available at a vacant work station in the office.

Questions about this request can also be addressed by Duane Hauck, Director of
the NDSU Extension Service. He can be contacted at 231-8944 or bye-mail at ext-
dir@ndsuext.nodak.edu.

O\SS CDUNIY
GOVERNMENT
...

.

County Commissions, North Dakota State University and U.S. Department of Agriculture Cooperating
NOS U is an equal opportunity institution
