Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to approve hiring <br />of Attorney Keith Miller at a cost of $80.00 per hour, up to $1,000.00, <br />as legal counsel for witnesses in the hearing for County Judge Donald <br />Cooke; and that Chairman Wieland be authorized to speak with Keith <br />Miller about the Board' s action. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Upon the request of Alvin Johnson, County Social Services, Mrs. <br />Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve staff replacement <br />for Mary Teske and to approve the transfer of Sheryl Nunez from the <br />Fuel Assistance program to the AFDC medical assistance program. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that County Social <br />Services be authorized to pay time and one -half for overtime needed <br />to convert the Medical Assistance cases to computer, for a maximum <br />of 1200 hours to complete the project. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to negotiate with <br />the State Director of Institutions for rental of two or three offices <br />in the Cass County Juvenile Detention Center at an annual cost of <br />$7.00 per square foot. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Administrative <br />Assistant Diana Murack be authorized to proceed with the program of <br />working with three Moorhead State University students as interns to <br />help develop a financial statement for governmental accounting. <br />Motion carried. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to approve payment <br />of $500.00 from the County Contingency Fund for the band that played <br />at the North Dakota County Commissioners Convention in Fargo. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to grant approval <br />for a raffle permit for the Chaffee Summer Recreation Program at the <br />Chaffee School on the date of March 12, 1988. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br />Several applications were received for one term on the Maple <br />River Water Resource District and for one term on the Southeast Cass <br />Water Resource District. Mr. Eckert stated that he is aware of more <br />interest in these appointments and asked that they be delayed until <br />January 5, 1988. A question was asked on whether State law requires <br />hiring a County Surveyor, and this will be further reviewed. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to reappoint Wayne <br />Kyser and Keith Monilaws to the County Park Board for the year 1988. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />
