Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to approve hiring of Attorney Keith Miller at a cost of $80.00 per hour, up to $1,000.00, as legal counsel for witnesses in the hearing for County Judge Donald Cooke; and that Chairman Wieland be authorized to speak with Keith Miller about the Board' s action. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Upon the request of Alvin Johnson, County Social Services, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve staff replacement for Mary Teske and to approve the transfer of Sheryl Nunez from the Fuel Assistance program to the AFDC medical assistance program. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that County Social Services be authorized to pay time and one -half for overtime needed to convert the Medical Assistance cases to computer, for a maximum of 1200 hours to complete the project. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to negotiate with the State Director of Institutions for rental of two or three offices in the Cass County Juvenile Detention Center at an annual cost of $7.00 per square foot. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Administrative Assistant Diana Murack be authorized to proceed with the program of working with three Moorhead State University students as interns to help develop a financial statement for governmental accounting. Motion carried. Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to approve payment of $500.00 from the County Contingency Fund for the band that played at the North Dakota County Commissioners Convention in Fargo. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to grant approval for a raffle permit for the Chaffee Summer Recreation Program at the Chaffee School on the date of March 12, 1988. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Several applications were received for one term on the Maple River Water Resource District and for one term on the Southeast Cass Water Resource District. Mr. Eckert stated that he is aware of more interest in these appointments and asked that they be delayed until January 5, 1988. A question was asked on whether State law requires hiring a County Surveyor, and this will be further reviewed. Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to reappoint Wayne Kyser and Keith Monilaws to the County Park Board for the year 1988. Motion carried unanimously.
