Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to receive and <br />acknowledge checks from AMVETS Post #7 in the amount of $100 and from <br />VFW Post #7564 at West Fargo in the amount of $2,000 as contributions <br />to the Courthouse Veterans Memorial Plaza. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Wieland took this opportunity to thank all of the people <br />who assisted with the North Dakota Century Commissioners Convention <br />and Association of Counties State Delegate Council held in Fargo last <br />week. He stated that a number of letters of thanks will be sent to <br />persons responsible for helping to make the convention a success. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to receive and file <br />the following Officer's Reports for October, 1987: Motion carried. <br />Clerk of Court 6,297.50 <br />County Court $32,104.52 <br />Register of Deeds $15,235.50 <br />Sheriff 8,975.17 <br />Veterans Service Office <br />Diana Murack presented an invoice from Steve Poulson for <br />architectural services on the proposed combined law enforcement <br />center. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to pay the bill <br />in the amount of $4,114.81, which is Cass County's 2/3 share of the <br />law enforcement study, subject to verification with Fargo City <br />Director of Finance Mark Thelen. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />A letter was received from County Judge Cynthia Rothe asking <br />the Commission to not add the responsibility of legal work for the <br />public administrator to the 1988 public defender contracts because <br />they are completely different areas of law. Judge Rothe also <br />recommended increasing the term of the public defender contracts to <br />two years, increasing the 1988 salary by $600, and that the Commission <br />establish the 1989 salary by November 15, 1988. She also requested <br />the Commission to establish the salary for 1988 for the mental health <br />contract with the Ottmar Law Firm. Commissioners Wieland and Stanton <br />will visit with Judge Rothe about the public administrator legal work, <br />and report back. <br />A letter was received from Al B. Spielman, President of the Cass <br />County Historical Society, inviting written comments by November 27th <br />on a proposal by Arnold Lorentzsen to build and operate a steam <br />locomotive train on a railroad linking Bonanzaville, U.S.A. and the <br />Red River Valley Fairgrounds. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to pay the bill to <br />Hannaher's Inc. in the amount of $4,820.00 for five wood desks for <br />the States Attorneys, to be paid from the Capital Projects line item. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Upon the recommendation of Daniel Twichell, Attorney for the <br />Southeast Cass Water Resource District, and approval of States <br />Attorney Robert Hoy, Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Larson seconded that <br />
