Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the Chairman be <br />authorized to sign a County Deed for Lot 6, Block 3, Chaffee Village, <br />Walburg Township, to W.A. Frietag; and to cancel the general taxes <br />in the amount of $6.34. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Cass County <br />recognizes the week of May 18 -25, 1987 as Safety Belt Awareness Week. <br />Motion carried. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the Chairman be <br />authorized to sign a letter to the Fargo Post Office regarding the <br />moving of the postal pickup box in the Courthouse to the west entrance <br />lobby of the Courthouse South Wing. Motion carried. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to authorize Scott <br />Krueger to negotiate for cleaning services with one company for the <br />entire Courthouse complex, subject to Commission approval. Motion <br />carried. <br />The Commission continued their discussion on 1987 salary <br />increases. Mrs. Stanton requested delaying a decision until next <br />Tuesday to allow more time to digest the proposal. Mr. Wieland <br />suggested approving the salary increases for the May pay period, with <br />the exception of the elected officials. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. <br />Eckert seconded to approve the salary proposal as presented by the <br />Administrative Assistant, retroactive to January 1, 1987, excluding <br />Department Heads and excluding Social Services employees and Extension <br />Office employees whose anniversary date is July 1 of each year instead <br />of January 1, the proposal being as follows: 1.6% cost of living <br />increase based on percentage of mid -point not to exceed $19,443.00, <br />and 0.75% applied to employees over the mid -point not to exceed <br />$13,131.00 with department heads having discretion on how it is <br />distributed. The motion carried on roll call vote with three members <br />voting "Aye Mrs. Stanton opposing. <br />Notification was received from the North Dakota State Historical <br />Society that property which the County owns at 57 -11th Avenue North <br />in Fargo has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the Chairman be <br />authorized to send a letter of protest to the State Historical Society <br />because the Commission was not notified and there were no hearings <br />held in connection with placing this property on the National Register. <br />Motion carried. <br />On motion by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mr. Eckert, the meeting <br />was adjourned. <br />
