Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign a resolution proclaiming the week of May 10 -16, 1987, as Police Week and the day of May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day. Motion carried. Upon the recommendation of County Engineer Don Richards, Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign the resolution requesting the State Highway Department to accept the low bid of Swingen Construction Company of Grand Forks in the amount of $485,728.90 for the bridge replacement on the Sheyenne River south of Harwood, the Federal Government paying 80% of the cost. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign the Project Agreement and the Operation and Maintenance Agreement with the Soil Conservation Service for the RC &D Project along County Roads 31 and 4. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Upon the recommendation of the County Engineer and in conjunction with Clay County, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to award the bid for a truck mounted striping machine to General Equipment of Fargo in the amount of $69,659.29 on Alternate #2, and to award the bid for a self propelled chip spreader to Sweeney Brothers in the amount of $59,400.00 on Alternate #2. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Duane Boehning from Ulteig Engineers presented a Plat of Adam' s 3rd Subdivision, which was approved by the Cass County Planning Commission on May 7, 1987. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign the Plat of Adam's 3rd Subdivision located in Barnes Township. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign the Plat of Cameron Sondreal Subdivision, located in Reed Township, which was also approved by the County Planning Commission on May 7, 1987. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Sheriff's Deputy Bud Warren be granted permission for out of state travel on the date of May 12-14, 1987, to attend a Crime Conference in Aberdeen, South Dakota. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Bonnie Johnson, Regional Child Support Enforcement Director, be authorized to hire a Secretary II in Pay Grade 5 at a salary of $1, 000 per month to replace Deb Fernandez, who resigned. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Administrative Assistant Scott Krueger be authorized to obtain informal bids for the three phases of the exterior landscaping project on the Courthouse
