REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />AUGUST 12, 1986 <br />Chairman Alon Wieland called the meeting to order and upon roll <br />call, all members were present. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Tom Jensen, County Social Services Director, appeared before <br />the Board on behalf of Cass County Department Heads requesting the <br />Commission to approve a modification of Section 3.1 of the Cass County <br />Personnel Policies Manual relating to the work week. They requested <br />that the policy be modified so as to permit departments the authority <br />to develop and implement a variable /flex time work schedule for <br />individual employees while assuring that the regular services to the <br />public will be maintained according to the standard 5 -day, 40 hour <br />work week identified in the existing policy. The Commission <br />instructed Mr. Jensen to meet with department heads and draft a <br />suitable schedule for each department, excluding the Road Department, <br />Sheriff's Department and one person offices. The Commission will <br />then review and consider the proposed modification in the Personnel <br />Policies Manual. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to receive and file <br />the letter from Darrell Wadeson and Francis Hartl and to support their <br />idea of changing the polling place in the City of Alice from City <br />Hall to the Senior Citizens Center. Motion carried. <br />Administrative Assistant Scott Krueger reported that he was <br />informed by Leo Sitter from Blue Cross -Blue Shield that Cass County <br />is not required to comply with the Federal regulation requiring <br />employees to continue health insurance coverage for an employee <br />separated from the County's employment until the next contract renewal <br />date, which is January 1, 1987. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the Chairman be <br />authorized to send a letter to a former County Social Services employee <br />who requested an additional nine months of health insurance coverage <br />stating our existing policy, and that the policy will not be changed <br />until after January 1, 1987. Motion carried. <br />Scott Krueger reported on construction progress in the Courthouse <br />North Wing remodeling and the Courthouse South Wing. The Register <br />of Deeds, Treasurer and Auditor' s Departments will be moving to newly <br />remodeled areas next week. <br />Upon the recommendation of County Engineer Don Richards, Mr. <br />Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to grant a utility permit to <br />the City of Mapleton to cross County Road 10 for a storm sewer project. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />
