REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />APRIL 1, 1986 <br />Chairman Alon Wieland called the meeting to order and upon roll <br />call, all members were present. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous mmeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br />Commissioner Sondrall suggested about 12 names for possible <br />appointment to a North Dakota Centennial Commission representing Cass <br />County. The Chairman suggested a meeting of these 12 people and have <br />them select a maximum of five persons to serve on such a committee. <br />Mrs Stanton moved and Mr Larson seconded that Tom Jensen, County <br />Social Services Director, be authorized to hire a <br />Homemaker II to replace one who has resigned. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Beverly Bohn, <br />Social Services employee, be granted out -of -state travel to Bemidji, <br />Minnesota, on April 14, 1986. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Discussion was held on combining rural voting precincts. Mr. <br />Eckert stated that the balance of the townships and cities prefer <br />to remain as they are, and the County does not have authority to alter <br />a city precinct without their approval. Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. <br />Sondrall seconded that the Cass County Commission write letters to <br />the townships of Cornell, Tower, Hill, Empire, Wheatland and Watson, <br />and to the Cities of Tower City, Casselton and Leonard to ask for <br />their cooperation in combining voting precincts within the next two <br />years. In further discussion, Mr. Larson suggested combining the <br />townships of Cornell, Tower and Hill into one precinct to realize <br />a cost savings this year. Mr. Eckert amended his motion, seconded <br />by Mr. Sondrall, to exclude writing to the townships of Cornell, Tower <br />and Hill at this time. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Cornell, Tower <br />and Hill Townships be combined into one voting precinct for the 1986 <br />Primary and General Elections, with the voting place being in Tower <br />City. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs Stanton seconded that the County request <br />the City of Tower City to accept the Townships of Cornell, Tower and <br />Hill into their voting precinct, informing them of the amount of <br />dollars that can be saved. Mr. Eckert stated that he cannot support <br />this motion knowing that a personal conflict exists between two of <br />the entities. At the call for the question, the motion carried on <br />roll call vote with four members voting "Aye Mr. Eckert opposing. <br />
