Like previous years, we
have prepared a proposal requesting the continuation of the program for the federal fiscal year
October 1, 2002-September 30, 2003. The proposal needs Cass County Commission support. The
Cass County Extension Service proposal is combined with proposals from other North Dakota
counties. The combined proposal will be forwarded to the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS)
branch of USDA by July 1, 2002 for consideration. The County Support Agreement is attached to
this request for your review. (avttilaJol~.. ~v ve~/ie~o .o-.1-Fi~:t~a~;m-. ~f:?[ee)

The success of this program depends on a close working relationship with staffand clients of
several local agencies. Becki Lawler and Stephanie Volk are the Cass County Extension Service
staff members with job responsibilities for this program. Both, Becki and Stephanle, are doing
an excellent job.

This year's proposal commits primarily in-kind resources from Cass County and Fargo Public
School. The only cash resources committed from Cass County are a phone line, copying of
program materials and expendable office supplies. These resources are identified on the County
Support Agreement.

If you have questions about this we'd be happy to visit with you about it.
Suggested motion is:

Move that the Cass County Commission support the Family Nutrition Program county
proposal for continuation of the program from October 1, 2002-September 30, 2003pending
proposal acceptance by State and Federal partners.

J: fnp/commissionlh'2001

County commmsions, North Dakota State University and U.S. Department of Agriculture Cooperating
