Sheriff's Residence for listing in the State Historic Sites Registry. <br />He was informed that there will be a committee meeting in Bismarck <br />on February 5th to formulate a recommendation for the hearing which <br />will be held on February 6th, also in Bismarck. The State Historical <br />Society is considering the listing of the Courthouse, Jail and <br />Sheriff's Residence on the State Historic Sites Registry because all <br />three are listed on the National Registry of Historic Sites. Mrs. <br />Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the Cass County Commission <br />recommends that the Courthouse be placed on the State Historic Sites <br />Registry, but the Commission is opposed to placing the Cass County <br />Jail and Sheriff's Residence on the State Historic Sites Registry. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to authorize Scott <br />Krueger, Administrative Assistant, to proceed with the rental of court <br />recording equipment during the absence of a County Court Reporter <br />at a cost of $340.00 per month plus supplies; and to interview for <br />a part -time person to operate the equipment, with authorization to <br />hire that person on a part -time basis after consulting with one or <br />two of the Commissioners. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Mr. Wieland reported that he received a telephone call from Fargo <br />City Commissioner Gib Bromenschenkel suggesting that the County and <br />the City work together on communications between the County Sheriff's <br />Office and the City Police Department, and Mr. Larson was assigned <br />to pursue this matter. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Larson seconded to award the low bid <br />of Peterson Mechanical in the amount of $23,470.00 for environmental <br />systems and fire safety equipment maintenance at the Cass County <br />Courthouse, Jail, Detention Center and Annex for one year. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Dave Johnson was present representing the F -M Home Builders <br />Association requesting that Cass County implement the two -year tax <br />exemption on new construction as passed by the 1985 State Legislature. <br />This law exempts from taxation for two years the first $75,000 of <br />valuation on all single family, condominium or town -home residential <br />property, exclusive of land, on which construction began after March <br />31, 1985 and is completed before January 1, 1987. Mr. Larson moved <br />and Mr. Eckert seconded that the Cass County Commission hold a public <br />hearing on the date of January 21, 1986, at 10:00 A.M. at which time <br />any person will be given an opportunity to be heard. On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />County Engineer Don Richards reported that the State Treasurer's <br />Office informed him that the Highway Tax Distribution fund is <br />diminishing. Cass County's last check was somewhat smaller than <br />expected. <br />
