<br />The Commission again considered the 2 -year loss control and safety program as proposed by John
<br />Welton of Safety Consultant Services, Inc. Steve Grindberg, County Road Superintendent, asked if this
<br />would duplicate efforts of the Workman's Compensation Bureau, but Mr. Welton stated that the Bureau
<br />strictly performs inspections while he provides education for safe and efficient productivity of County
<br />departments. Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to hire Safety Consultant Services, Inc. on a
<br />one -year basis at a cost of $1,000.00 initially plus $500.00 per month, with an option on the second
<br />year. The motion carried on roll call vote with four members voting "Aye Mr. Eckert opposing.
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve out of state travel for Beverly Bohn,
<br />Social Services employee, to travel to Fergus Falls, MN on June 28 and July 1, 1985. On roll call vote,
<br />the motion carried unanimously.
<br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to reappoint Mrs. Francis Hartl, Clair E. Berg, George
<br />Griffeth and Richard Hilborn to the Cass County Social Services Board for additional 3 -year terms to
<br />expire July 31, 1988. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to reappoint Roger Larson of West Fargo to the Cass
<br />County Housing Authority for a 5 -year term to expire July 1, 1990. On roll call vote, the motion carried
<br />unanimously.
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to reappoint Mrs. Fred Hector to the
<br />Planning and Zoning Commission from their extra territorial jurisdiction for a 5 -year
<br />July 1, 1990. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to reappoint Michael Lavelle to the
<br />Planning and Zoning Commission from their extra-territorial jurisdiction for a 5 -year
<br />July 1, 1990. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to reappoint Marvin Witt to the City
<br />Planning and Zoning Commission from their extra territorial jurisdiction for a 5 -year term
<br />1, 1990. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />Two comments were addressed to the Commission from the Suggestion Box. One was the problem of
<br />water standing on the Juvenile Detention Center parking lot. The Commission asked Steve Grindberg to
<br />investigate installing a drain. The other comment related to the Employee Newsletter, which has not been
<br />circulated for some time. Discussion was held on preparation and circulation of a newsletter.
<br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to authorize the issuance of a newsletter on a monthly basis,
<br />the County departments to be responsible for furnishing the news for the publication prior to a cut -off
<br />date to be established at a later time; and that at least one member of the County Commission shall
<br />review the newsletter before it is circulated. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />Information on proposed salary increases for County Extension Service employees will be referred to
<br />the Salary Review Committee.

<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the check from the State of North Dakota in the
<br />amount of $741.21 for Cass County's share of the gaoling taxes be placed in a special account with the
<br />Sheriff's Department to be used for enforcement of the State's gaming laws. The motion carried on roll
<br />call vote with four members voting "Aye" and Mr. Wieland voting "Pass
<br />Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to receive and file correspondence from James W.
<br />McCulley, DDS, regarding dental health insurance, and refer it to insurance consultant, Dan Martinsen.
<br />Motion carried.
<br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that insurance claim funds in the amount of $2,215.16
<br />for the water damage at the Cass County Courthouse be returned to the Emergency Fund. On roll call vote,
<br />the motion carried unanimously.
<br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to advertise for bids for County property and liability
<br />insurance. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to pay $1,500.00 to Robert C. Rust for insurance
<br />consultant fees for January, 1984 through January, 1985. On roll call vote, the motion carried
<br />unanimously.
<br />A bill from the Cass County Historical Society for insurance on a steam locomotive at Bonanzaville
<br />was referred to Commissioner Eckert for discussion with the Historical Society on property values.
<br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the salary for Robert Hoy, States Attorney, be
<br />increased to $40,821.50 annually, effective July 1, 1985, according to State law. On roll call vote, the
<br />motion carried unanimously.
<br />The County Auditor reported that budget forms for the 1986 County budget have been distributed to
<br />Department Heads, and the Auditor would like to have a uniform salary figure for them to submit in their
<br />budgets. The matter will be placed on the agenda in two weeks.
<br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to receive and file the following Officer's Reports for
<br />May: Motion carried unanimously.
