Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve signing a Quit Claim Deed upon receipt <br />of a letter from the Chairman of the Southeast Cass Water Resource <br />District stating that they have no objections. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br />Robert Hoy stated that he has been working with the Burlington <br />Northern Railroad Company for a Quit Claim Deed to the property on <br />which the Courthouse and Jail is located, which would facilitate any <br />financing of the proposed southside addition to the Courthouse. Mr. <br />Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to authorize the County Auditor <br />to draw a check in the amount of $1,000.00 for the States Attorney <br />to give to the Burlington Northern Railroad Company for administrative <br />costs in exchange for a Quit Claim Deed, the money to be paid from <br />the Promotional Advertising Fund. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. Mr. Hoy stated that Burlington Northern would <br />like to make a formal presentation of the Deed to the Commission at <br />a later date. <br />Robert Hoy stated that he has interviewed applicants for a <br />full -time secretary. He requested permission to hire Karen Egeberg <br />and to place her in Category 5 at a salary of $900.00 per month. <br />He stated that this position was evaluated by the committee of <br />Department Heads who revised the County pay scale system. Mr. Wieland <br />moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the States Attorney be allowed <br />to hire Karen Egeberg in Category 5 at the salary requested, pending <br />approval of the Salary Review Committee On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton reported that John Meyer, Veterans Service Officer, <br />does not wish to have his office moved to the Courthouse at this time. <br />Mr. Wieland suggested that the Chairman and Mrs. Stanton approach <br />the Social Services Director today regarding not moving the Veterans <br />Service Office out of the Annex; and then the Commissioners would <br />be in agreement that the States Attorney could occupy the space on <br />the first floor of the Courthouse, which is being vacated by the <br />Referee's Office. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve an <br />expenditure of $1,065.00 to Simplex Time Recorder for an extension <br />of the fire alarm system from the Courthouse over to the jail. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Scott Krueger, Administrative Assistant, presented additional <br />information and figures from the companies who submitted bids on a <br />new telephone system for the County, and discussion followed. Mr. <br />Sondrall moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to purchase a telephone switch <br />for the Courthouse and Juvenile Justice Center. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Sondrall made a motion to purchase the telephone switch from <br />FirsTel of Fargo. Mr. Wieland seconded the motion for discussion <br />but for later withdrew his second. The Chairman declared the motion <br />died for lack of a second. <br />
