Motion carried. <br /> <br />1- Mr. Wieland read a proposed letter requesting information from townships. cities and lending <br />linstitutions if they have advance knowledge of new businesses being developed in their area or increased <br />'activity of existing businesses that will affect the useage of County. township and city roads and <br />Istreets. Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Larson seconded to submit this letter at the annual meeting of the <br />:Cass County Township Officers' Association. and to send a copy of the letter to all Mayors in Cass <br />County. to financial institutions and to rural elevators in Cass County. Motion carried. <br />i <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 27. 1984 <br /> <br />Chairman Stanton called the meeting to order and upon roll call. all members were present. <br /> <br />I Mr. Sondrall requested that Mr. Eckert talk to the County Road Superintendent again about the <br />~angerous condition of County Road 6 leading to the bridge by the Convent south of Fargo. <br /> <br />i Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Larson seconded to send a 1 etter to the Cass County Townshi p Offi cers' <br />IAssociation asking them to appoint a representative to serve on a committee to review projects for the <br />:County road repair funds. which are a result of the passage of the ten mill levy for roads. Proposals were received from the following for janitorial and cleaning services at the Courthouse <br />land Annex: <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />I <br />! <br /> <br />Harvey's Janitorial Service <br />Erickson Janitorial Service <br />Dilworth Cleaning Service <br />Automated Maintenance Service. <br />United Service Corporation <br />Nationwide Cleaning Systems <br />Abels Cleaning Service <br />Gem Cleaning Services <br /> <br />Inc. <br /> <br />I The Commi ssi onerswi 11 each revi ew the above proposal s. and the States Attorney was requested to <br />[investigate the method of termination of the present contract for janitorial services and report back to <br />ithe Commission at their special meeting tomorrow at 1:00 P.M. <br />I <br />: Mr. Jim Thoreson appeared before the Board on behalf of the 39 full time County employees who are <br />lnot members of the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System. A large majority of these employees <br />iare requesting the County to match the amount of dollars similar to what they are doing for the employees <br />ion the State Retirement System and contribute it to the National Association of Counties deferred <br />icompensation plan. A question was raised on the progress of the Salary Committee. consisting of <br />iDepartment Heads; and the States Attorney. who is Chai rman of the commi ttee. stated that they wi 11 make <br />itheir proposal to the Commission on December 11th. The Commission asked Jim Thoreson to come back at <br />!that time regarding the National Association of Counties deferred compensation plan. <br />, <br />i Discussion was held on the draft Outline for Distribution of Pothole and Street Repair Funds from <br />ithe County, as prepared by the States Attorney. A final draft will be presented next Tuesday. <br /> <br />i Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the Chairman and the Auditor be authorized to sign <br />[the County Deed for the sale of tax forfeited property described as Lots 1 and 2. Block 26. City of <br />[Gardner. in the amount of $542.50. On roll call vote. the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />i Discussion was held regarding the request last week from the CasseltonAmbulance Service for an <br />iincrease of $1.000.00 per year. The County Auditor reported on the amounts paid annually to each of <br />,seven ambul ance servi ces in the County and the fund balance as of October 31st. The Commi ssi on asked <br />IScott Krueger to send a 1 etter to these ambul ance servi ces requesti ng a copy of thei r fi nanci al <br />Istatements. It was also suggested that they be requested to appear before the Commission at budget time <br />leach year. <br />I <br />I <br />I The present Publ i c Defender contracts expi re December 31st. and the Commi ssi on di scussed the <br />Iprocedure to be followed for obtaining indigent defense counsel for 1985. Mr. Wieland suggested a <br />imeeti ng between the Sheri ff. the County Court Judges. the States Attorney and the Commi ssi oners to <br />[discuss the public defender program and mental health hearings. The Chairman asked Scott Krueger to set <br />,up this meeting at 4:00 P.M. tomorrow. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to place an <br />ladverti sement in the newspaper calli ng for proposal s for Pub 1 i c Defender for Cass County Court at a <br />:salary of $15.000.00 annually for each attorney. On roll call vote. the motion carried unanimously.
