Coordinator Bonnie Johnson MEMO TO: County Commissioners FROM: Bonnie Johnson DATE: September 10, 2002 SUBJECT: "This Old House" Magazine Several weeks ago, I was contacted by Ryan Robbins, Assistant Editor of "This Old House" magazine. Mr. Robbins is in charge of a section of the magazine called "Save This Old House," which is a one-page article appearing monthly in the magazine. Mr. Robb[ns said approximately 60 houses have been featured in this capacity and about 40 of them have found alternate locations. The advertising would be similar to what the county did on a local level, however, this advertisement would be nationwide and at no cost to the county. The conditions for giving away the house would be as follows: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Submit house moving contract from a licensed, bonded house mover Indication that you own, or have purchased, a lot for the relocation Indication you have visited with the planning and zoning administrator in the city or township in which you plan to move the structure Indication you have visited with the appropriate utility companies about moving power lines prior to relocating the structure Property would be donated and there would be no cost to Cass County If the county decides to move forward with this advertising proposal, the information would be included in the January, 2003 edition of the magazine. I have included a couple of copies from Mr. Robb[ns regarding other homes that have been featured. SUGGESTED MOTION: Move to approve a proposal to advertise the former Sheriff's Residence in '"This Cid House" magazine, according to the conditions listed above.
