<br />A delegation appeared before the Commission for a public hearing at 10:30 A.M.
<br />on the proposed formation of the Davenport Rural Fire Protection District. A Certificate
<br />of County Auditor was read by the Chairman stating that a petition was filed in her
<br />office on or about the 16th day of November, 1983, requesting the formation of the Davenport
<br />Rural Fire Protection District and certifying that such petition has been signed by
<br />at least 60% of the freeholders whose names appear on current tax schedules in the office
<br />of the County Auditor and who appear to reside within the suggested boundaries of the
<br />proposed distri~t.
<br />
<br />Objections were voiced from some of the property owners on the proposed formation
<br />of the Davenport Rural Fire Protection District, and others requested additional time
<br />and meetings regarding the taxation and how the tax money will be expended.
<br />
<br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve the boundary lines for the
<br />proposed Davenport Rural Fire Protection District as described in-the Petition to the
<br />Board of Cass County Commissioners filed in the office of the County Auditor on November 16,
<br />1983. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Upon the recommendati6n of Sheriff Don Rudnick, Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert
<br />seconded to award the bid for a 1984 Suburban to A & WMotors in the amount of $14,775.00,
<br />to award the bid for one patrol car to Jay Davis Chevrolet in the amount of $10,596.00,
<br />and to award the bid for a second patrol car to W. W. Wallwork in the amount of $11,125.98.
<br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to authorize Sheriff Rudnick to hire a
<br />replacement~or one deputy who is resigning. On roll call vote, the motion carried
<br />unanimously.

<br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Larson seconded to authorize Sheriff Rudnick to hire a
<br />replacement for one se~retary who is resigning. On roll call vote, the motion carried
<br />unaimously.

<br />Vouchers approved Mr. Larson movedahd Mr. Wieland seconded that Vouchers No. 40,107 through
<br />& ordered paid No. 40,547 and Revenue Sharing Vouchers No. 382 ~hrough No. 384 be approved and ordered
<br />paid. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Officer's Reports Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to receive and file the following Officer's
<br />for Dec. Reports for December, 1983: Motion carried unanimously.

<br />Chairman Stanton called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members were
<br />present.
<br />
<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting
<br />be approved as written. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />No reports from the Cass County Road Department.
<br />
<br />Mr. Eckert moved and seconded by Mr. Wieland to accept the request of Mr. Cornell
<br />Kittelson, Imperial Window and Maintenance Cleaning, to lower his monthly fee
<br />from $1,910.00 to $1,850.00 effective this month. On roll call vote, the motion carried
<br />unanimously. .

<br />Mr. Eckert said he had an inquiry on combining some of the voting districts in
<br />the rural' areas. He would like to get some more information on this matter.
<br />Mr. Wieland moved and seconded by Mr. Larson to form a committee of Mr. Eckert,
<br />Mr. Krueger and Mrs. Brua, County Auditor, to work on this matter. On roll call vote,
<br />the motion carried unanimously.
