<br />: The County Auditor presented a rough draft of some guidelines concerning the
<br />I creation of special assessment districts. The Commission asked for a review by the
<br />I States Attorney and that they receive a copy of the guidelines in writing prior to the
<br />I Commission meeting next Tuesday.

<br />Courthouse matterslArchitect Richard Moorhead was present and the Board _discussed some matters concerning
<br />disc. with Arch. I the bell tower restoration project, sound-proofing the District Court Room, and the
<br />jcondition of the wood floors in the Courthouse hallways.

<br />Ii Mr. Moorhead discussed future plans for Courthouse office space. He stated that
<br />there could be some cost-savings if the Board did not extensively remodel the present
<br />!Courthouse but constructed a south wing which would be correlated with the addition
<br />Ion the north side of the Courthouse. The Commission has been considering selling
<br />li'the Cass County Annex building, and a south wing would provide additional office space
<br />for those departments now located in the Annex. The Commission felt they need to study
<br />,the feasibility of this and the matter is to be placed on the agenda in two weeks
<br />i for further discussion.

<br />I Mr. Moorhead stated that there is some artwork painted on the inside of the dome
<br />I ar~a of the Courthouse, and Mr. Wieland suggested finding someone to photograph that
<br />I artwork so that it can be viewed by everyone. It is in an area which is not easily
<br />I accessible, and some of the paintings have been damaged by the installation of the elevator
<br />'in the center of the Courthouse. Mr. Moorhead had some ideas on restoring them.

<br />National Register I The County Auditor reported that he and Mr. Moorhead met with a representative
<br />of Historic Plcs-+of the State Historical Society regarding the application for a listing in the
<br />entire block I National Register of Historic Places. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded
<br />incl. Cthse, Jail that the entire block containing the Courthouse, the County Jail and the Sheriff's
<br />& .Shff. Residence! Residence be listed in the National Register of Historic Places. On roll call vote.

<br />up I Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Duane Hoehn, County Auditor,
<br />I. be authorized to spend up to $700.00 to have Dr. Norene Roberts from Historical Research,In~.
<br />,prepare the necessary application for the listing in the National Register of Historic
<br />I Places. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Coroner services ! Mr. Eckert stated that he spoke with Dr. Robert Morrison from Dakota Clinic, who the
<br />II. County contracts with for coroner services. However, Dakota Clinic, informed the Commission

<br />that they will not be renewing their contract effective September 1st. Mr. Eckert has made
<br />I some contacts with area doctors and he requested the other Commissioners to assist in
<br />i finding someone to take over the coroner services for the County.

<br />The Auditor received a bill from Engineering Design of Fargo in the amount of
<br />$195.00 for work on the jail ventilation project and a bill from Halvorson, Moore,
<br />Sprague and Moore in the amount of $614.60 for services regarding the jail ventilation.
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve the above two bills for payment
<br />from the County Emergency Fund. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the Auditor be authorized to pay
<br />the bill submitted by Meinecke-Johnson Company in the amount of $10,516.00 under their
<br />contract for the Courthouse bell tower restoration project. On roll call vote,
<br />the motion carried unanimously.

<br />improved.

<br />the temperatures in the County Jail were high during
<br />heat temperatures outside, but it was able to be
<br />comfortable temperature due to the ventilation being much

<br />I Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting

<br />I Items concerning the County Road Department were mentioned, and Mr. Eckert will
<br />Idiscuss them with the County Road Superintendent.

<br />Chairman Eckert called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members were present.!
<br />
<br />! Mr. Ken McIntyre was present to invite all members of the Commission to attend
<br />Ithe annual Pioneer Days at Bonanzavi1le.
<br />
<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to receive and file the communication
<br />Nardini Fire Equipment Company regarding a service agreement on the County's
<br />extinguisher equipment. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
