Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman and the Auditor <br />!be authorized to sign a Construction Engineering Services Agreement between Cass County, <br />ithe Moore Engineering Company and the State Highway Department for the bridge replacement <br />iproject on County Road 2 east of Hunter, the total contract cost not to exceed $15,688.00 <br />jof which 80% will be reimbursed by the Federal Government. On roll call vote, the motion <br />!carried unanimously. <br />I <br /> <br />I 'The County Road Superintendent reported that he has looked at a used truck for about <br />,$9,000.00 to replace one which is beyond repair that he used during the summer for hauling <br />Ithe oil distributor for patching and sealing County roads. The Board questioned whether <br />Ihe had the money in his budget for such a purchase. Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton <br />'I seconded that Mr. Grindberg be authorized to use his own judgement on this matter. <br />Ion roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Soc. Services Dir.: Tom Jensen, County Social Services Director, was present regarding the Community <br />apprd. re: Comm. I Survival Program which is administered by his department to provide assistance to the <br />Survival Program idevelopmentally handicapped people who are trying to support themselves in the community. <br />and permission iHe would like to hire one additional employee and also, he is looking for office space <br />to hire one 'to rent for his staff who administer this program because their present space which is <br />employee & will !located near FraSer Hall on South University Drive will be demolished about the 1st of May <br />need different ior June. Supt. req. <br />permission to <br />purchase used <br />truck <br /> <br />I The County Social Services Board last week approved the hiring of one additional <br />iemployee, but Mrs. Stanton felt that the request should be brought to the next County <br />iCommission meeting because of the County's present freeze on hiring additional employees. <br />IMrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to postpone any action for two weeks. <br />[After further discussion, the motion carried on roll call vote with four members <br />!voting "Aye" and Mr. Sondrall opposing. <br />i <br /> <br />Frontier City Mr. Irv Haman, Mayor of Frontier, appeared to request permission to clean dirt <br />req. to clean ifrom the ditch along County Road 6 at Frontier to improv~ the drainage situation <br />dirt from C6 Ifor their city. The Commission suggested that Mr. Haman attend the next meeting of <br />road ditch ithe Southeast Cass Water Resource Board to first discuss his request with them. <br /> <br />Vouchers a rovedl Mr. Larson moved and M~S. Stanton seconded that. Vouchers No. 32,969 through <br />pp iNo. 33,729 and Revenue Sharlng Vouchers No. 348 through No. 351 be approved and ordered <br />ipaid. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />i <br />Voting machines--il Duane Hoehn, County Auditor, reported that there will be a demonstration next Tuesday <br />present machines on a new type of voting system. The CountY,Commission was informed that the present <br />will be obsolete ,voting machines will be obsolete by the next Presidential Election due to a court ruling <br />by next Pres. iconcerning the placement of names on the machines for Presidential candidates. <br />election jMr. Hoehn stated that he is waiting for a written opinion from the State Attorney General <br />,on whether there is some way that the present voting machines could be used and still <br />I stay within the realm of the North Dakota State Law. <br /> <br />City of Philadel-i Mr. Hoehn stated that the City of Philadelphia, New York, would like to rent 30 <br />phia to rent 30 iof Cass County's present voting machines at $100.00 each, and they will pay the costs <br />of Cass Co.'s lof transporting them to Philadelphia and back to Cass County after their election. <br />voting machines !He stated that there is a possibility that they would purchase these 30 machines <br />; if Cass County does purchase a new voting system due to the machines being obsolete <br />I in North Dakota. Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to rent 30 voting machines <br />Ito the City of Philadelphia at their expense.
