<br />Mr. Daniel Pease was present regarding his request for an Abatement of taxes
<br />!for property in Reed Township. He stated that the property was appraised at $70,000.00
<br />!but the tax assessment is $74,800.00. Mr. Clarence Miller recommended that the abatement
<br />be denied for the reason that the property is assessed equitably with other comparable
<br />'property in this taxing district. Mr. Miller suggested that Mr. Pease contact the local
<br />assessor concerning the tax for the coming year if he still feels a reduction is
<br />'warranted. Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the abatement for Daniel Pease
<br />be denied as recommended by Reed Township and the County Director of Tax Equalization.

<br />Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Larson seconded to grant an Abatement of taxes for
<br />'E. J. & Elise N. Doerr as recommended by Clarence Miller because of considerable
<br />!depreciation of property due to excessive ground slippage toward the river. On roll call
<br />!vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />Bonnie JOhnson, Regional Child Support Enforcement Director, requested permission
<br />,to hire a replacement for a part-time employee who is resigning. The salary will be
<br />reduced from $425.00 to $350.00 per month. Cass County's share would be about $40.00
<br />per month, the majority being paid by the State and Federal Governments. Mr. Larson
<br />!moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Bonnie Johnson be authorized to hire a part-time
<br />'employee to replace one who is resigning. On roll call vote, the motion carried
<br />!unanimously.
<br />
<br />Mr. Harlan Swenson, Noble Township Supervisor, presented a bridge petition in
<br />Section 23, Noble Township. Mr. Grindberg stated that this is one of the locations where
<br />the design work is beginning for a new bridge.
<br />
<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to grant a Raffle Permit to the Kindred
<br />High School Letter Winners Club on the date of March 6, 1983, at the Kindred School.

<br />, Upon the request of the County Social Services Director, Mr. Sondrall moved and
<br />,Mr. Larson seconded to pass a motion in support of House Bill 1644 relating to
<br />reimbursement by the State to the counties for costs of the General Assistance Program.

<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to pass a motion in support of
<br />,House Bill 1063 which establishes a per diem program for Federal prisoners held in
<br />county jails. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Jeannette Stanton with four members
<br />present, Chairman Don Eckert being absent.
<br />
<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting
<br />,be approved as written. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />Discussion will continue next Tuesday on the group health insurance contract for
<br />County employees. The Board asked the States Attorney to review the Sheriff employees'
<br />union contract as it relates to payment of health insurance benefits by the County.
<br />
<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the delinquent general taxes for
<br />'5 years be cancelled on the 14 lots in the City of West Fargo which were remaining on the
<br />:1982 tax sale list, and that the said property be sold to the City of West Fargo for
<br />$1.00 per lot. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Larson seconded to grant a Raffle Permit to the Embden
<br />'Community Club on the date of March 21, 1983, at the Embden Community Center.
<br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />The Auditor read a letter from the State Highway Department stating that Cass County's
<br />1983 allotment of Federal Aid Secondary funds is $163,200.00. A copy of this letter
<br />will be referred to the County Road Superintendent.
