<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA <br /> <br />";'liiH"T',lij;'i:IN~ 'eo:"'':A..~a!!.~:N'.~si'S'-''. <br /> <br />6071 <br /> <br />i <br />I <br />i <br />J <br />I Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Larson seconded that a committee be appointed by the <br />'Chairman consisting of three Commissioners and a few of the County employees. <br />'Mrs. Stanton amended the motion to read that all five of the County Commissioners <br />'sit on this committee. The amended motion was seconded by Mr. Larson and it carried <br />on roll call vote with all members voting "Aye". The following County employees will <br />serve on the Committee: Dorothy Howard, Ron Meisch,Jim Thorson, Linda Brooks, <br />Kathy Fenza and John Meyer. <br /> <br />Sheriff Don Rudnick was present and stated that he has one employee in the <br />Juvenile Detention Center who is requesting a 6-month leave of absence for maternity <br />purposes. He stated that the position will be filled in her absence by the present <br />part-time help. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that Sheriff Rudnick <br />be authorized to handle this situation in the way which best suits his department. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Larson seconded to receive, file and refer to the <br />County Road Department a letter from the Hide Oil Company of Pipestone, Minnesota, <br />requesting an opportunity to bid on Road Department supplies. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the Chairman be authorized to. sign <br />five documents which the Commission received requesting that the following properties <br />in the City of Fargo be listed in the National Register of Historic Places: <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Gardner Hotel <br />Graver Inn and Annex <br />Powers Hotel, The 400 <br />Cole Hotel <br />Kneer Block, Floyd Block, MeHench Building, Goldberg Building <br />,(17-23 South 8th Street) <br /> <br />Mr. Fred Selberg was present to express concern over proposed legislative bills <br />which call for designating a portion of the Sheyenne River and other streams in the <br />eastern portion of the State of North Dakota as a scenic river. Mr. Wieland moved and <br />Mrs. Stanton seconded that the Cass County Commission pass two resolutions opposing <br />Senate Bill 2470 and, opposing House Bill 1651 because the designation as a scenic river <br />would eliminate improvements for flood control which would be detrimental to the <br />County of Cass and the entire Red River Valley. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. Mr. Wieland will be presenting these resolutions to the Natural Resource <br />Committee of the Senate and of the House of Representatives and to any other <br />legislative committees or legislators. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to receive and file the following <br />Officer's Reports for January: Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Clerk of Court <br />County Court <br />Register of Deeds <br />Sheriff <br /> <br />$ 3,942.50 <br />$20,644.23 <br />$10,584.40 <br />$ 7,832.32 <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to grant a permit to the Chaffee <br />Parent Teachers Organization to hold a raffle on the date of March 12, 1983, at the <br />Chaffee School Gym. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />A letter was received from Ulteig Engineering Company requesting to be considered <br />in the selection process when the County hires an engineering firm for the 3 bridge <br />projects which were approved by the Board on February 1, 1983. The letter will be <br />'referred to the County Road Superintendent. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Vouchers No. 31,607 through <br />No. 32,208 and Revenue Sharing Vouchers No. 338, 339 and 340 be approved and ordered <br />paid.
