Andreasen be approved as submitted. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />It was agreed upon that the discussion of County insurance be put on next week's <br />agenda as recommended by Robert Hoy, States Attorney, so that not only the <br />technicalities but also the legalities can be reviewed and a final decision be made. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve the application for a permit <br />to hold a raffle by St. Benedicts Church of Wild Rice on September 19 and October 2, 1982, <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mrs. Stanton, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />AUGUST 24, 1982 <br /> <br />Chairman Wold called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members were present. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded that the minutes of the previous <br />meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrickson-moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the Chairman be authorized <br />to sign the Statement of Assurance for Federal Revenue Sharing Funds for Entitlement <br />Period No. 14. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The Commissioners received a copy of a letter which County Court Judge Donald Cooke <br />received from the National Association of Counties requesting him to serve on a national <br />justice committee and asking the County to be responsible for his expenses in attending <br />about 4 meetings. Chairman Wold stressed the importance of this committee and the <br />honor which it brings to Judge Cooke and the County. Mr. Hendrickson moved and <br />Mr. Larson seconded that Judge Cooke be authorized to accept the one-year appointment <br />on this committee. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The Board continued discussion on County insurance. Mr. Kip Erickson was present <br />representing Warner and Company and Mr. Bob Rust, Insurance Advisor, was also present. <br />Chairman Wold stated that the Commissioners reviewed the correspondence regarding <br />insurance company ratings, and it is the consensus of the Board to continue the <br />County's insurance with the Dawson-Watson Insurance Agency, as awarded on July 29, 1982. <br /> <br />Sheriff Don Rudnick presented informal bids for the fencing and for the construction <br />of a jail outdoor recreation area. Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to accept <br />the bid of Stoutland Construction Company in the amount of $11,150.00 for the <br />concrete slab, changing a hallway in the jail and adding a ramp for access to the <br />recreation area. The Board asked Sheriff Rudnick to further investigate the bid <br />received for the security fence around the area. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Phil Matthews appeared before the Board regarding the least which expires <br />September 1st for the County Extension Agent's office space across the street <br />to the south. of the Courthouse. Mr. Matthews prepared a proposal to sell the property <br />to Cass County for $360,000.00. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to renew the present lease with <br />Phil Matthews until the 1st of January, 1983, for the Extension Agent's office space; <br />and the Commission will review the purchase proposal in the meantime. On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Upon the request of Bob Hoy, States Attorney, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson <br />seconded that Mr. .Hoy be authorized to hire Melody Jensen as an Assistant States Attorney <br />beginning September 1, 1982, at a salary of $17,000.00 per year. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Hoy also requested authorization to increase the salaries of the present <br />assistants since their duties have changed due to the resignation of the 1st Assistant <br />States Attorney, Larry Stern. The Board will take the matter under advisement. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Hendrickson and seconded by Mrs. Stanton, the meeting was adjourned. <br />
