Commission Minutes--August 15, 2002 2489

Mr. Arett said there might be some opportunities for moro efficiency in operating programs if
the clubs could work together more closely. For instance, he could access some Federal
funding to help subsidize meal programs. Mr. Montplaisir said the priorities for funding
senior programs are education, nutrition and transportation. Funding for buildings and
insurance are not priorities.

Mrs. Sorum said she is interested in a combined effort to try to reduce a club's expenses.
She noted that the Horace Seniors are requesting more money than last year, and they may
be able to increase their own revenue by renting out the senior citizen building more often.

Commissioners were in agreement that Mr. Wieland should write a letter to the Senior
Citizen Clubs encouraging cooperation and to look at combining programs, where possible,
in order to stay within the budget. He said this may include having the Commission facilitate
a meeting in the near future to get this started.

RECESS
With no further budgets to review today, the chairman declared the meeting recessed at
11:15 AM and the board will reconvene at 1:00 PM Monday, August 19, 2002. in the
Commission Room

A'I-I'EST:

Michael Montplaisir - Auditor
Cass County, North Dakota

APPROVED:

Alon Wieland, Chairman
Cass County Board of Commissioners
