<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA <br /> <br />:";~-~_':~~--':=-=-~~"~~.~G..~~~i~~~:~~._~~2i~-=~=:~~=~.;;." <br /> <br />6005 <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Wold seconded to receive and file the Indemnity Bond <br />on Lost Instrument for Jerry Haugen and authorize the Auditor to issue a duplicate check. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mrs. St:anton seconded that the Treasurer's Annual Report <br />be received and filed. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Committee reports were given. <br /> <br />'Based upon the unanimous recommendation of a committee appointed by County Court <br />0udge Donald Cooke, Mrs. .Wold moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the Board appoint <br />Miss Cynthia Rothe to the position of full-time Magistrate and Referee to the County Court <br />of Increased Jurisdiction of Cass County, effective December 15, 1981, at a salary of <br />; $36,633.00 per year. Upon discussion and at the call of the question, the motion <br />carried on roll call vote with all members voting "Aye". <br /> <br />Upon the request of Attorney Wayne SOlberg., Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Wold seconded <br />that the Chairman be authorized to sign the Note Resolution for Horvick Enterprises' <br />MIDA Project. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on salaries of County employees, as the Board had indicated <br />in July at budget time that they would begin to look at the situation earlier for the <br />next year. Mrs. Stanton asked the Board to be thinking about this area, and the matter <br />was placed on the agenda for the middle of January. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the following Officer's Reports <br />'for October be received and filed: On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Clerk of Court <br />County Court <br />Register of Deeds <br />Sheriff <br /> <br />$ 4,280.50 <br />$11,934.06 <br />$ 9,470.20 <br />$ 5,993.37 <br /> <br />On motion by Mrs. Stanton and seconded by Mrs. Wold, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />NOVEMBER IJ, 1981 (TUESDAY) <br /> <br />Chairman Hendrickson called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members <br />,were present. <br /> <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting <br />be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Oscar Sondrall appeared before the Board and presented a report from the <br />North Dakota State Fair Association Annual Meeting which he attended in Bismarck <br />on November 16th, and he thanked the Commission for appointing him to represent them. <br /> <br />Miss Cynthia Rothe appeared before the Board and read her letter of resignation <br />as Cass County States Attorney effective December 15, 1981., to accept the position <br />:of Referee-Magistrate for the Cas.s County Court, to which the Board appointed her <br />last week. MrS. Wold moved and Mr. Larson seconded to accept the resignation <br />of Cynthia Rothe as Cass County States Attorney with regrets; but .we1coming her to <br />her new position and commending her for the fine job she has done as State's Attorney. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Miss Rothe stated that it shall be the responsibility of the Board of County <br />Commissioners to fill the vacancy caused by her resignation. She felt that it would be <br />reasonable at this point in time for the Commission to appoint someone who is already <br />on the staff in the Office of States Attorney, and she stated that there are two people <br />there who are interested in the position. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson felt that the Board should receive applications from anyone who is <br />interested and qualified, and set a deadline of two weeks for receiving them. <br />An advertisement will be placed in the newspaper calling for applications. <br /> <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to receive and file the letter from <br />Craig M. Richie making application for the position of Cass County States Attorney. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Eckert reported on the dedication of the bridge on County Road 22 near Harwood <br />which was held on November 16th at 2:00 P.M. with state and local officials being present. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Wold seconded to approve the installation of some type of <br />removable writing boards on the back of the front row of benches in the new District <br />Courtroom in the Courthouse Addition for the convenience of the news media in covering <br />court cases, as explained by reporter Chet Gebert.
