Motion carried. <br />I <br />i <br /> <br />, Upon the recommendation of the Moore Engineering Company, Mrs. Wold moved and <br />!Mr. Hendrickson seconded that the County award the contract for bridge replacement between <br />lSections 35-36, Harwood Township, to the Sornsin Construction Company of Fargo <br />,in the amount of $67,307.50, the low bid. On roll call vote, th~ motion carried <br />iunanimously. <br />I <br />, <br /> <br />, A letter was received from Cass County Electric Cooperative requesting to meet <br />Iwith the Board at a future date to further discuss the moving of power lines for County <br />[road projects. In the letter, Mr. Grager stated that he contacted two other rural electric <br />Icooperatives and was informed that they also charge for relocating their power lines <br />iwhen they are on private right of way. <br />I <br />I <br />Public Defender--r Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the letter from Frederick D. Kraemer <br />letter from land Associates regarding the Public Defender System be received and filed. On roll call <br />Kraemer Assoc. ,vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Disc. on PUbliC! Mr. Hendrickson stated that there has been some discussion since last week about <br />Defender System iallowing other firms to submit proposals to the County again this year for the <br />jpUblic Defender System. The matter will be placed on the agenda next Wednesday <br />!for further study and discussion. <br />I <br /> <br />! The Board reconvened at 9:30 A.M. as the County Board of Tax Equalization. <br />jGeneral Nutrition Mills, Inc. has not yet determined whether they would accept the <br />icompromise in their assessment as proposed by the City of Fargo; and upon the recommendation <br />iof Clarence Miller, County Director of Tax Equalization, Mr. Hendrickson moved and <br />!Mrs. Wold seconded that General Nutrition Mills will have the opportunity to protest <br />!the assessment with the State Board of Tax Equalization at a later date. On roll call vote, <br />!the motion carried unanimoUSly. <br />t <br /> <br />Upon the recommendation of Gordon Sletmoe, County Disaster Emergency Services Director, <br />Mr. Satrom moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the burning ban be lifted in the County. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />I <br />! The Rev. Curt Frankhauser appeared before the Board representing a group of concerned <br />II citizens regarding a rock concert to be held at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds on <br />July 11, 1980. He stated that no one has issued a permit for such a concert but State law <br />!requires that a permit be issued. He understands that Mapleton Township has issued <br />ia permit for the operation of the Red River Valley Fair but they were not aware of a <br />I rock concert being held. Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded that interested <br />!persons be invited next Wednesday, June 18th, to the County Commission meeting to discuss <br />ithe matter further; and that the States Attorney, the County Sheriff, the Mapleton Township <br />!Board, the President and Executive Secretary of the Red River Valley Fair Board along with <br />I their Attorney Jonathan Garaas, Mayor Clayton Lodoen of West Fargo, the Rev. Curt FrankhauseI <br />land the group of concerned citizens be notified. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />I unanimously. <br />i <br />! Architect Irvin Holman brought a sample of the brick finish to be used for the <br />iCourthouse addition which was approved by all of the Commissioners. The brick is <br />I manufactured by United Brick and Tile Company of Des Moine's, Iowa, and the local <br />irepresentative is The Brickyard, Inc. of Fargo. <br />I <br />Public Defender--l Mr. Hendrickson moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the letter from Jonathan Garaas <br />interest expressdlrepresenting a group of law firms expressing interest in submitting a proposal <br />by Atty. Garaas ! to the Board for the Public Defender System for 1980-1981 be received, filed and <br />I discussed further next week. Addn. <br /> <br />: Regarding the new industry tax exemption law, Mr. Miller received a letter from the <br />iState Board of Tax Equalization asking that emphasis be placed on providing employment <br />I for North Dakota people and that new industry report their employment statistics to the <br />/State Board of Tax Equalization during the life of the tax exemption that was granted them. <br /> <br />I On motion by Mrs. Wold and seconded by Mr. Hendrickson, the Chairman declared <br />I the Board of Tax Equalization adjourned for 1980. <br /> <br />The Board reconvened as the County Board of Commissioners. <br />
