Mrs. Wold moved <br />iand Mr. Satrom seconded that the Board accept the low bid of Wanzek Construction, Inc., <br />land that the Chairman be authorized to sign the contract. The motion carried on a <br />T.iroll call vote with all members v::;oting "Aye". <br />I <br />! <br />City of Riverside Upon the request of Jeff Volk from the Moore Engineering Company, Mrs. Wold moved <br />to use Co. R/W land Mr. Hendrickson seconded that the County grant permission for the City of Riverside <br />for installing ito go on County right of way to install street lighting on their property, with no <br />street lighting ! financial responsibility on the part of the County for installation or maintenance. <br />[The motion carried on a roll call vote with all members voting "Aye". <br /> <br />Resolution of <br />support to Lake <br />Agassiz--grant <br />appl. to FHA <br />to study energy <br />conservation <br /> <br />Abate. for <br />Klitzke Bros. <br />referred to <br />Pleasant Twp. <br /> <br />Upon the request of Beth Grosen from the Lake Agassiz Regional Council, <br />iMr. Hendrickson moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the Board approve the resolution <br />iof support and authorize the Chairman to sign their grant application to the <br />; Farmers Home Administration in the amount of $25,000.00 for a one-year assessment of <br />,where the largest amounts of energy are being consumed in this region and to work with <br />I local officials on energy conservation, this to be at no financial obligation to the County. <br />iThe motion carried on a roll call vote with four members voting "Aye", Mr. Satrom opposing. <br />! <br />I Mr. Satrom moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the five Applications for Abatement <br />I and Settlement of Taxes submitted by Klitzke Bros., Inc. be received, filed and <br />i referred to Pleasant Township. The motion <br />carried on a roll call vote with all members voting "Aye". <br /> <br />Discussion was held regarding the vacancy on the Board of Directors of the <br />I Garrison Diversion Conservancy District due to the resignation of Mr. E. M. Gregory. <br />Cynthia Rothe, States Attorney, reported on a copy of a letter she received from the <br />legal counsel for the North Dakota State Water Commission written to Commissioner <br />Hank Hendrickson pertaining to the possible appointment of Mr. Hendrickson to the <br />Garrison Diversion Board. The States Attorney also discussed the matter with the <br />Attorney Ge~eral's Office and according to them and the legal counsel for the <br />State Water Commission, the Board could appoint Mr. Hendrickson to fill the vacancy. <br />But she stated that there are other issues involved since Mr. Hendrickson's term <br />on the County Commission and the term on the Garrison Diversion Board will expire <br />at the same time. Mr. Hendrickson's name could not be listed on the election ballot <br />for both offices. <br /> <br />Mr. Satrom moved that the Board appoint Lawrence Baarstad to fill the vacancy <br />on the Garrison Diversion Board. Mrs. Wold seconded the motion for discussion. <br />i <br />I The County Auditor read letters from Ralph E. Cameron, Harry Warner and <br />I' Duane Breitling recommending the appointment of Mr. Hendrickson to Garrison Diversion. <br />Mr. Ken McIntyre was present and also recommended that the Board appoint Mr. Hendrickson. <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />, <br />i <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />, <br />i <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Morrie Madson was present and stated that Mr. Baarstad is well-acquainted <br />with the actions of the Garrison Diversion Board and would be well-qualified <br />for the position. <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrickson stated that he would have no intentions of seeking re-election <br />for another term on the Cass County Commission. <br />
