<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA <br /> <br />586'1 <br /> <br />i <br />i <br />Shff. mileage <br />reconsidered-- <br />309 per mile for <br />;in-County trips <br />opposing. <br />i <br />flearing on Co. <br />13udget--Budget <br />fl.dopted with <br />line item added <br />:"Bridge Fund" <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrickson reported that the County Road Superintendent recommended that an 18" <br />culvert be installed under County Road 17 north of West Fargo at a cost to the County <br />of $3,500.00, this being equivalent to the previous waterway opening before the road <br />was paved. The Board suggested that Mr. William Selberg be requested to sign an agreement <br />for an 18" culvert before the County takes any action. <br /> <br />Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the letter from Herman A. Peterson <br />of Enderlin concerning the status of a bridge which was washed out in Sections 16-17, <br />Pontiac Township, be referred to the Road Department. The motion carried on a roll call <br />,vote with all members voting "Aye". <br /> <br />A letter was received from Mr. B. M. Mullen of Ayr expressing concern over a portion <br />'of old Highway 10 between Buffalo and Tower City where the road ditch was deepened to about <br />;15' for drainage purposes. He suggested that a guard rail be placed along this portion <br />,of road since it is a school bus route. Mrs. Wold moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that <br />the letter be received, filed and referred to the Road Department for a recommendation. <br />,The motion carried on a roll call vote with all members voting "Aye". <br /> <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Bernard Reynolds be appointed as <br />,County Planner at a salary of $17,000.00 per year. The motion carried on a roll call vote <br />]with all members voting "Aye". <br /> <br />Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded that Alton Johnson, Maintenance- <br />Engineer, be advised to set the cooling and heating temperatures in the County office <br />ibuildings to the best of his ability, according to the guidelines set down by the President <br />of the United States. The motion carried ona roll call vote with all members voting "Aye". <br /> <br />Upon the recommendation of the County Auditor, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold <br />'seconded that the County hire Donald Schiele on a retainer basis for one year to program <br />the National Cash Register equipment at $648.00 per month, providing enough other Counties <br />also pick up the service from Mr. Schiele. However, the motion and second were withdrawn <br />because the contract states for a period of three years. Mrs. Stanton then moved and <br />Mrs. Wold seconded that Donald Schiele be hired on a retainer basis of $648.00 per month <br />'for a period of three years to program the County's computer equipment, providing enough <br />other Counties also pick up the service. The motion carried on a roll call vote with all <br />members voting "Aye". <br /> <br />Union Attorney Ron Hilden appeared before the Board along with representatives of the <br />Sheriff's Department to request the ~oard, to re-consider their request for 309 per mile. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the mileage for the Sheriff's Deputies <br />;be set at 309 per mile except for trips outside the County, which shall be set at 279 <br />!per mile. The motion carried on a roll call vote with Mr. Satrom and Mr. Hendrickson <br /> <br />A hearing was held on the 1979-1980 County Budget. <br /> <br />Joan Mikula, County Superintendent of Schools, appeared concerning her budget. <br />Also present was Cynthia Rothe, States Attorney. <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrickson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the Board adopt the 1979-1980 <br />budget as adjusted and in the Road Department budget, a line item to be established known <br />as the "Bridge Fund" as recommended by District Judge Garaas in his court proceedings; <br />the amount to be included in the 1979-1980 "Bridge Fund" line item shall be $250,000.00. <br />The motion carried on a roll call vote with Mr. Satro~ opposing the addition of the <br />Bridge Fund line item. <br /> <br />Committee Reports were given. <br /> <br />On motion by Mrs. Stanton and seconded by Mrs. Wold, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />ADJOURNED MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />JULY 25, 1979 <br /> <br />Chairman Satrom called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members were present.1 <br /> <br />under C17- <br />Rd. Mullen concerning a guard rail on a portion <br />,of old Highway 10 between Buffalo and Tower City. The County Road Superintendent stated <br />that he is investigating the request with the State Highway Department. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign <br />the utility permit with the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company to bury cable near the <br />County Road 31 bridge project.
