Commission votes to not consider renting office space in former Blue Cross- Blue Shield bldg. Vouchers apprvd. Contract with Ramlo, Anderson & Associates for Public Defender Officer's for June Rochester Twp. to be paid for grasshopper spraying Mr. John Gunkelman appeared to get an indication from the Board on rental space at the former Blue Cross-Blue Shield building. Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the Board meet with Mr. Gunkelman and with all of the County's Department Heads to see if the space would be feasible. In discussion, it was mentioned that several Department Heads have viewed the space and there was no positive reaction from them. Upon roll call vote, the motion failed with only Mr. Sondrall voting "Aye". Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the Commission advise the firm of Schlossman and Gunkelman that the County will not be renting office space in the former Blue Cross-Blue Shield building. The motion carried on a roll call vote with Mr. Sondrall opposing. Mrs. Wold moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Vouchers No. 62,489 through No. 62,810 be approved and ordered paid. The motion carried on a roll call vote with all members voting "Aye". Mrs. Wold moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the Cass County Commission enter into contract with the law firm of Ramlo, Anderson and Associates for the delivery of legal services under the Public Defender System. The motion carried on a roll call vote with Mr. Sondrall opposing. Clerk of Court County Court Register of Deeds Sheriff $ 2,724.75 $23,321.05 $10,999.00 $ 1,894.60 The Auditor presented a bill in the amount of $320.00 for spraying grasshoppers along the County Roads in Rochester Township. Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded that the County pay $320.00 to Rochester Township for grasshopper spraying. The motion carried on a roll call vote with all members yoting "Aye". Out of State Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that Tom Jensen, Social Services Director, travel auth. for be authorized out of state travel to Washington, D.C. on July 22-27, 1979. Soc. Servo Dir. The motion carried on a roll call vote with all members voting "Aye". Mileage rate for Shff. Deputies set at 279 Lion's Club Gambling Permit at Fair amended to include sale of pulltabs at Beer Gardens i Bids rejected fOr trucks for Rd. Dept.--to be readvertised Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the Board set the mileage rate for the Sheriff's Deputies at 279 per mile, but that they stay within the original line item amount. The motion carried on a roll call vote with all members voting "Aye". Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the Lion's Club gambling permit at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds be amended to include the sale of pulltabs at the Beer Gardens during the fair. The motion carried on a roll call vote with all members voting "Aye". On motion by Mr. Hendrickson and seconded by Mrs. Stanton, the meeting was adjourned. ADJOURNED MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS JULY 18, 1979 Chairman Satrom called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members were present Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. The County Road Superintendent was not present, but he recommended to Mr. Hendrickson that bids be readvertised for trucks for the Road Department. Mr. Hendrickson stated that the bid from Red River International could not be considered because it did not contain a bid bond at the time of the opening, and he felt the lease-purchase bid from W. W. Wallwork was excessive. Mr. Hendrickson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the County reject the bid of W. W. Wallwork for trucks for the County Road Department, and that the Road Department readvertise for trucks. A representative was present from Red River International and suggested that the Commission consider advertising for bids on the basis of a conditional sales contract rather than the lease-purhcase option to avoid paying Federal excise tax. The Commission requested the States Attorney to investigate whether the County can legally enter into a conditional sales contract. The motion to reject and readvertise for bids carried on a roll call vote with all members voting "Aye".
