<br />Delegation apprd.[ A delegation appeared regarding the condition of County Road 2 which runs through
<br />Re: County Road IDows, Hunter, Bell, Kinyon and Noble Townships. The County Road Superintendent stated
<br />2--Rd. Supt. to (that they intend to gravel the road as soon as load restrictions are lifted. Mr. Sondrall
<br />determine if [moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the County Road Superintendent hire an independent
<br />Co. crews could icontractor for up to $2,000.00 to re-shape County Road 2. However, Mr. Hendrickson felt
<br />re-grade and 'that it would be more economical to have the man running the County's maintainer in that
<br />gravel iarea work on this stretch of road as he has time. Mr. Grindberg stated that perhaps the
<br />[County should adopt a policy of not grading for the townships and keep the County maintainers
<br />igoing on the County roads. The motion and second to hire an independent contractor
<br />!were withdrawn. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that Mr. Grindberg review
<br />ithe project to see if the County crews would be available to do such a project and if not,
<br />!that he obtain cost estimates from other contractors. Motion carried.

<br />of C5 ito County Road 26, which is on the proposed road construction program for 1980.

<br />Dan Eckert was present regarding County Road 32 from Absaraka west to State Highway 38
<br />iwhich was previously brought to the Board's attention by a delegation from that area.
<br />
<br />Mr. Duane Grimstvedt appeared before the Board to request additional culverts
<br />lunder County Road 17 north of West Fargo. Mr. Grindberg stated that the County Road
<br />;Department has never changed the waterway that was in there, and he did not feel that
<br />ianother culvert would change the situation. Mr. Grimstvedt left some pictures and
<br />iinformation for the Board to look at for a couple of weeks.

<br />i Joan Mikula, County Superintendent of Schools, appeared before the Board regarding
<br />loffice space for the Special Education Program which she will again be administering:
<br />IBecause of n~w legislation, she stated that there will not be a County Special Education
<br />IBoard after June 1, 1980. Mr. Hendrickson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the
<br />Imatter be delayed one week. Motion carried.

<br />The Commission received proposals for Public Defender from seven different attorneys
<br />lor firms. Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded that the Board set up a committee
<br />;consisting of the States Attorney, one District Court Judge, the County Judge, the Juvenile
<br />"Supervisor, the County Auditor and the County Commissioners who wish to be on the committee.

<br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the application for a gambling permit
<br />be approved for the Braaten Cabinet's Softball Team for a raffle to be held on
<br />June 29, 1979. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />A meeting was held with the other elected officials for the purpose Df selecting
<br />a delegate to the conference of the North Dakota Association of Counties to be held
<br />in Bismarck on July 26th and 27th. Mrs. Stanton moved and Judge McGuire seconded that
<br />Ruth Hellem, Clerk of Court, be selected to represent Cass County. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />A letter was received from the North Dakota Office of Energy Management
<br />regarding energy conservation grants,
<br />
<br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the letter from the Southeast Mental
<br />Health and Retardation Center concerning space for collocation of social services
<br />be received and filed. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />Favorable review Mrs. Stanton moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that a favorable review be granted on the
<br />granted for City application of the City of Horace for water distribution-storage system improvements.

<br />icommission and the County Commission.
