Weed Control Progress Report June 2, 2018

Period from June 11 to July 2, 2018 submitted by Stan Wolf

New Business:

2019 Proposed Budget: Discussion at the last meeting called for an increase in
the Contractor Spraying line item needs to be increased. The past several years
the contractors had to stop spraying as the spraying budget was depleted. The
contractors could have continued spraying for up to two weeks had funds been
available. $50,000 was added to the Contractor Spraying budget for a total of
$390,000. Liability insurance was increased to include coverage for the drone.
An expansion of the Chemical Storage area is planned if we can secure
additional floor space in the building, cost $6000.

All other operational line items remained the same with exception for inflation
increases.

Proposed Motion: Move to approve proposed 2019 budget.

Additional vehicle building space: The allotment of space for Weed Control in
the Weed/Vector vehicle building is adequate for present equipment and storage
needs; although, herbicide storage space could be bigger. If additional
equipment is acquired in the future, we may not have storage room inside the
building. Our current space is 35 feet by 50 feet. Vector Control is planning to
budget to expand the vehicle storage building. It is my recommendation that we
increase our allotment to 50 feet by 50 feet for Weed Control storage to allow for
an increase in chemical and equipment storage. This will need to be coordinated
with Vector Control and the County Administrator as they plan for the building
expansion.

Proposed motion: Move to request additional space in the Weed/Vector vehicle
storage building.

Monthly Report

One-Ton Truck: The truck is at the dealership and they are preparing the truck
for delivery in early July. Once the truck is delivered, the truck bed and water
tank will be installed.

Flea Beetle Collection: Leafy spurge flea beetles have emerged and we have
collected several times. We have handed out eight collections to landowners
and several other sites.
