<br />Commission Minutes--June 3, 2002 2454 <br /> <br />Birch Burdick, and Mike Montplaisir are conducting an election school today and unable to <br />make this presentation. Also, Mr. Klein was unavailable at this time because of meeting <br />with property owners after the county equalization meeting. Mrs. Johnson said the group <br />considered the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the Employment Cost Index and benefit ratios <br />in arriving at the 3% figure. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to accept the <br />recommendation of Cass County department heads on the cost of living <br />adjustment at 3% for 2003 budget purposes. Discussion: Mr. Meyer said <br />he is aware that the department head group studied the situation very <br />thoroughly before making their recommendation. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />15. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve Voucher <br />No. 164,295 through No. 164,630. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />16. MEETING UPDATES; BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS REPORT; COMMISSION MEETING <br />FOR JUNE 17TH CANCELLED, Committee reports <br />Commissioners reported on meetings they have attended in the past two weeks. Mr. Meyer <br />said he received the final Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) report on the Maple River <br />Dam project. <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson said the jail consultant, Jim Rowenhorst, was in Cass County last week and <br />did a great job working with the transition team. She hired a new employee for buildings <br />and grounds, Eugene Gartner, who began his employment with Cass County today. <br />Courthouse carpet cleaning is ongoing and floor waxing has begun in the new jail. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland asked other commissioners to consider canceling the second meeting in June <br />for lack of agenda items. There was only one item on the agenda, besides approval of <br />vouchers, and both of those would be moved to the July 151 meeting. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to cancel the June 17, <br />2002, County Commission meeting due to the lack of agenda items; and <br />to authorize Donna Schneider to approve the vouchers, with final <br />approval by the Board at the next meeting. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />17. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />notice of project completion from the North Dakota Department of Transportation on <br />structure and approaches by Wanzek Construction, Inc.; <br />
