Commission Minutes--June 3, 2002 2454 Birch Burdick, and Mike Montplaisir are conducting an election school today and unable to make this presentation. Also, Mr. Klein was unavailable at this time because of meeting with property owners after the county equalization meeting. Mrs. Johnson said the group considered the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the Employment Cost Index and benefit ratios in arriving at the 3% figure. MOTION, passed Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to accept the recommendation of Cass County department heads on the cost of living adjustment at 3% for 2003 budget purposes. Discussion: Mr. Meyer said he is aware that the department head group studied the situation very thoroughly before making their recommendation. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 15. VOUCHERS, Approved MOTION, passed Mrs. Schneider moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve Voucher No. 164,295 through No. 164,630. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 16. MEETING UPDATES; BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS REPORT; COMMISSION MEETING FOR JUNE 17TH CANCELLED, Committee reports Commissioners reported on meetings they have attended in the past two weeks. Mr. Meyer said he received the final Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) report on the Maple River Dam project. Bonnie Johnson said the jail consultant, Jim Rowenhorst, was in Cass County last week and did a great job working with the transition team. She hired a new employee for buildings and grounds, Eugene Gartner, who began his employment with Cass County today. Courthouse carpet cleaning is ongoing and floor waxing has begun in the new jail. Mr. Wieland asked other commissioners to consider canceling the second meeting in June for lack of agenda items. There was only one item on the agenda, besides approval of vouchers, and both of those would be moved to the July 151 meeting. MOTION, passed Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to cancel the June 17, 2002, County Commission meeting due to the lack of agenda items; and to authorize Donna Schneider to approve the vouchers, with final approval by the Board at the next meeting. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 17.
