PART V ~ PROGRAM PLAN (cont.) <br /> <br />If applicable, explain how the project will serve minority youth in a culturally competent manner: <br />Approximately 14% of the population referred for diversion services will be minority youth. Approximately 10% of the <br />minority youth diverted will be Native American. Youthworks has provided services to minority youth since its <br />inception. All of the staffhave received training in cultural competency. An understanding of cultural issues is critical <br />to professional licensure and all of the staff in the diversion project are licensed social workers. Youthworks does serve <br />?outh who do not speak English, and interpreters are available. <br /> <br />Discuss the plan for evaluation of the project: <br />Youthworks has an extensive, computerized management information system which con provide all of the demographic, <br />service, and outcome data needed to evaluate the effectiveness of the project. Data which will be available for analysis <br />include: <br /> *~ Demographics of youth served ~ Types of service <br /> ~/Amounts of services provided ~/General & Specific outcomes <br />Measurable accomplishments will include: <br /> # families receiving, and the hours of, assessment services <br /> # families referred for supporting services <br /> # youth & families receiving mediation, and the hours of mediation provided <br /> # youth receiving, and the hours of, peer support, group &Jor individual counseling <br /> # youth enrolled in Turnabout and the length of enrollment <br /># families receiving, and the hours of, crisis intervention & family counseling <br /># and types of placement interventions utilized <br />With an extensive database in place, questions essential to the evaluation of this program can be answered. These <br />include: "What services are most effective in diversion?", "How long must services be provided?", "What level of service <br />seems appropriate?", "What will diversion cost?", "How effective is the program in preventing arrests?" How effective is the <br />program at preventing longer term out-of-home placement and the termination of parental custody? <br /> <br /> <br />
