<br />Commission Minutes--June 6, 2005 2904 <br /> <br />9. ROAD DEPARTMENT, Approve purchase order for hiQhwav equipment <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to authorize the chairman <br />to sign a purchase order for a reversible snow plow attachment for a <br />Caterpillar motor grader from Butler Machinery Company in the amount <br />of $12,777.00. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />10. CONTRACT APPROVAL, Heinze LandscapinQ; Butler Machinerv <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to approve the following <br />contracts submitted by respective department head, subject to state's <br />attorney approval, and authorize the chairman to sign: On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Heinze Landscaping and Earthmoving-gravel delivery to Page stockpile site; <br />Butler Machinery Company-motor grader leases. <br /> <br />11. TAX EQUALIZATION BOARD, Convened for 2005 and recessed until June 20th <br />Chairman Vanyo convened the Cass County Board of Tax Equalization for 2005. Frank <br />Klein, Director of Equalization, referred to his letter dated May 27, concerning the annual <br />equalization of assessments. He said the agricultural valuation increased by 10.2% to bring <br />the assessments in compliance with statutes, pursuant to SB 2188. The agricultural <br />assessments are based on a legislative productivity formula rather than market value. <br /> <br />Mr. Klein said he is reviewing the assessments that were returned by the cities and <br />townships, as well as individual assessments of concerned taxpayers. He said North <br />Dakota statutes require residential and commercial property to be valued at market value; <br />and some assessment jurisdictions will require adjustments across the board and others will <br />need assessments adjusted individually. There were no individuals present to appeal their assessment. The <br />board was in agreement to have Mr. Klein send the proper notice for taxpayers to appear <br />and appeal their assessment at the next meeting of the board of equalization. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to recess the Cass <br />County Board of Equalization until June 20, 2005. Motion carried. <br />
