<br />Commission Minutes--April 1, 2002 2425 <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT HEADS--PLEASE POST IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE FOR STAFF TO READ <br /> <br />,--- <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />APRIL 1, 2002 <br /> <br />1. MEETING TO ORDER <br />Chairman Alon Wieland called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM with all members present as <br />follows: Donna Schneider, Alon Wieland, Scott Wagner, Robyn Sorum and John Meyer. <br /> <br />2. MINUTES APPROVED <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded that the minutes of the <br />previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. AGENDA, Order aDDroved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve the order <br />of the agenda with the following additions to the consent agenda: 1) <br />permit application submitted by Starr Fireworks for a fireworks <br />display; 2) beer license for Leonard Sandhills Golf Course for the <br />remainder of 2002; and adding discussion on the regular agenda <br />concerning the future of the old jail and sheriff's residence. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />,--- <br /> <br />4. NATIONAL COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK PROCLAMATION, ADril 7-13, 2002 <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to authorize the chairman <br />and the county auditor to sign the proclamation for National County <br />Government Week April 7-13, 2002. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />5. RESOLUTION #2002-5, SUDDort for state-aDDroved solution to Devils Lake f100dina <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to adopt Resolution <br />#2002-5 in support of a state-approved solution to the Devils Lake <br />flooding crisis, as follows: On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #2002-5 IN SUPPORT OF A STATE APPROVED SOLUTION <br />TO THE DEVILS LAKE FLOODING CRISIS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Devils Lake has experienced steadily rising water levels since the late 1970's with <br />pronounced increases occurring since 1993; and <br /> <br />,--- <br /> <br />WHEREAS, geologic evidence shows the water level fluctuations at Devils Lake are primarily <br />associated with, and the result of, climatic swings; and <br />
