JAIL LOBBY, Deane Colin Fave commissioned for creation of art work/fund raisina effort
Mrs. Sorum asked to move this item to the regular agenda to discuss the art project for the new
jail lobby. She said she received some telephone calls about spending tax dollars for this
project and thought the $17,000 could be used in other areas of the jail. Mr. Wieland said a few
projects in the Courthouse were completed using grant money or other fund-raising methods
and perhaps that would be an option for the art work in the public lobby of the jail.

Mrs. Schneider said she believes the artist, Deane Colin Faye, has demonstrated that he will
produce the visual effect desired to show the historical and cultural perspectives of the State in
his work. She would like to move forward with the project so that the artist would have the time
necessary to complete the work. Mr. Wieland suggested commissioning the artist and that a
committee do some fund-raising that could be applied to the $17,000 cost of the art work.
MOTION, passed
Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to commission
Deane Colin Faye for the creation of art work at the new Cass County
Jail in an amount not to exceed $17,000 from the established budget;
and to establish a committee to raise as much of the funding outside
of tax dollars as possible to apply to the project. On roll call vote, the
motion carried unanimously.

23.
