<br />Commission Minutes--February 4, 2002 2412 <br /> <br />proposed automation projects and support functions. Also, the project will include examination <br />of current and potential staffing requirements and management options in the IS Department. <br />The project time line is mid-February to the end of June, 2002, and the total estimated cost is <br />$24,645. Since Cass County has a $6,000 credit with NDACo for automation work, the balance <br />due from Cass County would be $18,645 for the technology assessment. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve the plan <br />developed by the North Dakota Association of Counties to conduct a <br />technology assessment for Cass County Government, and to move <br />forward as recommended. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />9. JAIL TRANSITION TEAM, UDdate bv Countv Sheriff <br />Sheriff Don Rudnick updated the Commission on transition team activities for the period from <br />January 22 through February 1, 2002. More than 200 job applications have already been <br />received, and the closing date for receiving applications is the end of this week. <br /> <br />Mr. Meyer asked where the transition team is working since the project trailer has been removed <br />from the site, and the Sheriff responded that they are working in the training room in the new jail. <br /> <br />10. JAIL COMMISSARY AND INMATE IDENTIFICATION, F.M Vendina bid awardlcontract <br />Bids were opened January 11,2002, for jail commissary items and inmate identification system, <br />according to Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor/transition team member. Four bids were <br />received and tabulated with a recommendation to award the contract to FM Vending. Carlos <br />Perez, transition team member, was present today and provided information on the Debitek <br />Cash Card System. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to authorize the <br />chairman to sign a Vending Machine Lease Agreement with FM <br />Vending for commissary items and inmate identification in the new <br />jail, with the ability of the transition team to negotiate the termination <br />clause from 30 days to 60 or 90 days, at the suggestion of the State's <br />Attorney. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />11. COURTHOUSE WEST ADDITION, Committee to review Dossible eXDansion/funding <br />In an effort to continue discussion on a proposed west addition to the Courthouse, Mr. Wieland <br />asked to appoint a subcommittee to work on the project and explore funding options. He said <br />the first mission of this task force would be to meet with area legislators to determine whether <br />any State funding might be available for expansion of the State District Court into a new county <br />office building. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to appoint a west <br />addition task force consisting of the following committee members: <br />Commissioner Alon Wieland, to serve as chair; Commissioner Scott <br />Wagner, Jail Portfolio; Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator; a <br />representative from the City of Fargo, to be named by the Mayor; a <br />representative of the District Court, to be named by the Presiding <br />Judge; and Rick Hoganson of Foss Associates. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />
