Ken Rheault from the City of Fargo Engineering Department assisted in the process and did an excellent job of creating maps that show all the precincts in the county. The redistricting plan had an effective date of December 7, 2001. The respective Commissions have thirty-five days from that date (January 11, 2002) to create and approve the precincts within each of the new districts. The precinct plan presented to you is the result of our efforts. We preserved precinct boundaries wherever possible; however only sixteen of the precincts remain the same. In 2001, the county had a total of 57 precincts. This plan includes 66 precincts-some of the growth is due to an increase in population over the past ten years and some is due to the redistricting plan. The plan was forwarded to the Democrat and Republican contact people in each legislative district and some of their suggestions were incorporated into this plan. The plan was also forwarded to the other cities and townships in Cass County for their review. As a result of the redistricting plan, two precincts cross city boundaries between Fargo and West Fargo and three precincts contain both city and county residents.
